A public performance test of the TON blockchain will begin in 1.5 hours, which will grant the TON Foundation the status of the fastest and most scalable blockchain in the world.

TON blockchain passed the public performance test with flying colors.

Its TPS (transactions per second) indicator reached 108,409!

This indicator is not only higher than other blockchains, but also than the classic Visa and Mastercard payment systems, which are able to process only about ~25k.

TON coin reached $2.71 at the time of writing the post. What's behind such a price rally?

Several factors could be at hand, most notably the upcoming Gateway conference taking place tomorrow.

During this conference, many partnerships, collaborations and announcements will be made, which will fuel interest in token and the blockchain as a whole.

For instance, yesterday Bybit joined forces with The Open Network to launch TON Odyssey, an event aiming to put cryptocurrency in every pocket. As part of this event, Bybit users can earn up to 5.5 TON by performing simple actions.

The price of TON was also boosted by the recent Telegram update, which allowed for hosting transparent and verifiable giveaways of Telegram Premium subscriptions.

On November 6th and 7th, Pavel Durov launched giveaways with a total prize of 15,000 subscriptions, worth over $300,000.

Layerswap announced it's integrating TON blockchain into its application.

Many popular networks impose mandatory conditions related to holding native coins. For example, users must hold TRX on the balance to send USDT over TRC20, which greatly complicates the process.

🤑Should TON Foundation give away 1 TON to 500 million users each?

The vision for TON community is to reach 500 million users within 5 years.

During one of the sessions at the Gateway conference held on 10 November, Alexander Plotvinov (CEO of Open Builders), suggested to the panelists that in order to reach the goal faster, TON Foundation could give away 1 TON each to 500 million users.

To which Steve Yun boldly replied:

"We can hold a public vote and let the community decide."

Alexander Plotvinov from the Open Builders team complemented an earlier question posed as part of a conference on accelerating user engagement in the TON ecosystem:

You don't need to start with 500M, but run a test

where you send 100,000 Toncoin to 100,000 Telegram-premium users as a gift, with a limited time and a condition to create a TON wallet. Or if not to Premium users, then to those who have been active in the last 30 days, chosen at random.

The advantage of this approach is that the distribution can't be abused, since it will be given retrospectively to those who already bring value to Telegram.

My hypothesis is that 90% of Toncoin will remain in the ecosystem, simply because 1 TON is not enough to be transferred to fiat or other networks.
And giving people use cases — gaming, collectibles, defi — will add even more motivation to become a regular participant of the TON Community.

It is quite possible scenario where for 100,000 Toncoin sent, we will get buyers for 1,000,000 Toncoin, simply because some people will discover the value of TON and the potential of the integration with Telegram and will want to transfer their assets from fiat or other networks.

If the 100,000 Toncoin experiment is successful and TON gets more value than money spent, we can continue with a larger audience as long as the right value / money ratio is maintained.

And if it fails — well, it's a small price to pay for trying to save 5 years of onboarding of millions of users. Still, we will have thousands of new onchain users, which doesn't sound too bad.

Here is a promo video presented during the recent Gateway conference, which briefly describes The Open League initiative and plans within the TON Society.

The idea is to allow contributors, developers, and other users to earn XP for performing certain tasks, which can then be exchanged for a TON.

In addition, participants will receive a commemorative badge in the form of an SBT NFT for achieving milestones in various events.

This initiative is expected to attract 5 million active users to the TON ecosystem.

Also in the near future, emphasis will be placed on the development of TMA/TWA (Telegram Mini/ Web Apps), which will attract many developers and creative users to the ecosystem.

We should probably expect a lot of events for developers, and of course, a constructor for creating TMA / TWA (but this is just a guess). 🧐

🔥Another big step for Web3

From the very beginning, TON was designed as a decentralized, self-governing organism. And only if the vast majority (as many as two-thirds of validators) give their approval, changes to the network can be made.

Today, the 'configuration key', the last element hindering complete decentralization, was removed from the system.

This key allowed adjusting the technical parameters of the network in critical cases. It could not directly manipulate smart contracts, such as making changes to the balance, code or account data. Nevertheless, it was the last element to get rid of in order to achieve true and complete decentralization of the TON blockchain.

So, today, that key is history. The devs removed it from the system, along with all the “buts”, and now our beloved TON network stands to claim its position as the most advanced decentralized body!

🥺Major players from Hong Kong have noticed TON's potential

Recently TON Foundation, in partnership with Future3 Campus, announced TON Bootcamp, an event that fosters the development of Telegram-based mini-applications in the TON Web3 ecosystem. The program lasts for five months and offers initial funding of up to $50 million for the top 15 participants.

Future3 Campus is a Web3 innovation incubation platform. Created by Wanxiang Blockchain Labs and HashKey Capital, it focuses on three main areas: mass adoption of Web3.0, DePIN and AI.

HashKey Capital Investment Fund has invested in more than 165 ventures in Web3 and established over 1,000 partnerships, including Coinbase Ventures, Binance Labs, Gate.io and others.

Hashkey Exchange is a centralized exchange founded in 2018 in Hong Kong. It has only 10 trading pairs at the moment and a 24-hour volume of around 300 million dollars. Hashkey was the first in Hong Kong to receive an exchange license.

The Chinese conglomerate Wanxiang Group, one of the country's largest auto parts manufacturers, is also among the founders of Futur3 Campus. It actively invests in blockchain through its own dedicated fund. Wanxiang Blockchain provides technologies, capital, and resources for industrial-scale development and business integration with the blockchain industry.

This partnership implies that The Open Network is entering into a direct cooperation with Hashkey, the most influential cryptocurrency leader in Hong Kong.

Why is this not advertised? The leadership of the People's Republic of China took a tough stance against virtual money. Cryptocurrencies and transactions with them are banned throughout the country.

In 2021, China banned investments in mining cryptocoins, and then mining activity as a whole. Under pressure from the authorities, WeChat messenger, popular in China and other Asian countries, shut down cryptocurrency groups. Any operations with non-fungible tokens are prohibited.

WeChat is a messaging app regulated by the state. Telegram is looking to do the exact opposite, emphasizing Web3 and TWA/TMA, supporting projects with grants and promotion in Telegram Ads, which also use TON blockchain technologies.

Speaking about Telegram's ambitions to outperform WeChat. Recently, it has partnered with the Chinese messenger, Tencent, allowing it to compete in the world of Web3 applications.

🇹🇷TON listed on the Turkish Paribu Exchange

The Pirabu team announced that TON is now officially listed on their exchange, and is available for purchase and trading.

Paribu is a leading crypto exchange in Turkey and is well known in Europe and other regions. It is popular among traders thanks to its large offering of assets, significant trading volume, and simpler functionality than its competitors.

The exchange dominates the Turkish crypto exchange market, occupying more than 50.5% of the local exchange market share, based on a recent CoinGecko report (2023).
