This morning TON got hammered down to $1.23, and some used this opportunity to load up on TON for almost $1.
Apparently, speculators whiplashed to strengthen their position against a generally weak market.
The drop in value by more than 20% occurred in a matter of a few hours.

You may see some rumors spread in the media about TON (The Open Network) being designated as a security by the SEC, but this is false.
In the list of 54 cryptocurrencies, the SEC included Telegram’s Gram, (or Telegram Open Network) which is not related to the TON token as we know it, and does not have the same name nor the same logo.

TON blockchain is considering updating its address format for the improved security and convenience of inexperienced users. The proposal includes adding recommendations and minor modifications to the address format to prevent users from losing their funds in case of a mistake.
TON team invites all developers to join the discussion on the new address format. The proposal mainly focuses on backward compatible changes, but all other suggestions, including more radical ones, are welcome.
This proposal is part of TON's overall goal to foster mass adoption of blockchain technology. By increasing user convenience and security, TON attracts more individuals and businesses to its platform.

TON has officially adopted a new deflationary mechanism that will burn 50% of all transaction fees.
Since then, already more than 1000 TON has been burned.
On June 17th, TON validators voted to introduce a new mechanism to burn half of the TON transaction commissions in real-time. By the end, 76.3% have voted in favor of this proposal. The mechanism was launched immediately after, and the burning will continue indefinitely.

Today is the last day when Telegram Group Inc. and TON Issuer Inc. are obliged to notify the SEC about activities related to the issuance of digital assets.
We expect tighter integration of The Open Network with Telegram and a surge in Web3 development.
Along with the restrictions lifted off Gram (Telegram Open Network) and the lock-up period on STON.fi expiring, the price of TON rose up to $1.49.
In addition, on August 14, Telegram will turn 10 years old, which means that we might get some sweet updates.

Today we held a meetup in Moscow dedicated to the TON blockchain. Over 50 people have attended😱! Among them were project owners, developers, enthusiasts and many other awesome community members.
The first, "formal" part of the meeting was about speakers and delicious food. It was done in an "open-mic" format, where everyone could present themselves and their project.
As participants got to know each other, we got to the "informal" part of the event: two hours of intense networking and friendly conversations, which brought about a number of deals, partnerships and collaborations.
And that's not the end of it. We will announce the next meetup pretty soon, so get ready for more, and get ready for better.
All participants will be awarded commemorative NFTs in honor of the first TON Breakfast.

When sending TON coins, tokens or NFTs, senders could always add an encrypted comment for the recipient.
With the new update, you can add encrypted text when sending messages containing transactions. This function uses end-to-end encryption, so that only the sender and recipient can read the message.
The network fee for delivering such messages is ≈0.006 TON, allowing users to enjoy it for everyday purposes.
The following web wallets already support the new feature:
