We pay lots of attention to simplicity of our apps and services.

You might have noticed that our wallets and other apps contain almost no technical information. What you see is animated stickers, not transaction hashes or block heights.

The only tech info you’ll find is your wallet address, which is no harder than card or phone number. But it will be dropped soon, too – once TON DNS goes live, everyone will be able to register a short username and use it instead.

People don’t need to get under the hood of the blockchain to start using it. Blockchain’s advantages such as privacy and security should be available to everyone.

We’re often asked if we’re planning a full-fledged TON blockchain explorer (a service that scans blocks and transactions). Development of such an explorer is not on our top priority list because we believe average user won’t need it.

Whenever you send transfer to a friend using your regular mobile banking, you don’t need to go to ‘banking explorer’ afterwards or launch Internet traffic scanner to make sure the money’s indeed been sent. We’ll release a full-fledged explorer, sure, but it’ll be used by devs for debugging – average users simply won’t need it.

Most of the existing interfaces were created during the era of blockchains of the past. You send coins and wait anywhere between 10 minutes and a couple of hours, usually not even sure if your transfer will be processed.

In TON, transactions are cheap and almost instant. A modern tech now gives us an opportunity to redefine and simplify people’s interaction with blockchain.
How does Toncoin enter circulation?

Today’s post will go over the TON mining structure.

The current iteration of The Open Network blockchain is the testnet2 that was launched by Telegram in 2019. Once the testnet was launched, 5 billion coins were released, which were later renamed Toncoin.

In 2020, Telegram separated itself from the project, and all coins were transferred to special “Giver” proof-of-work smart contracts.

Why was it structured this way?

Givers can be considered as a safe that releases coins to those who correctly solve the safe’s code.

In other words, Toncoin is not publicly available and is not immediately released for sale. The only way Toncoin can enter circulation before being bought on an exchange is by mining it first.

This way, the network remains decentralized.

Telegram could have burned all of its coins, but that would have spelled the end of testnet2. At that time, however, a group of dedicated developers had come together and wanted to continue working on the network.

As a result, Telegram provided network participants the opportunity to mine Toncoin via transparent proof-of-work mining.

Who solves this “code” and how?

Miners are the ones who solve these “codes.” The process goes like this: A user installs special software on their computer, and in the background, it attempts to solve mathematical problems broadcast by Givers.

The miner who solves the problem first receives 100 Toncoin, after which the Giver broadcasts a new mathematical problem, and the process starts anew.

You can read more on this process here.

Do Givers do anything else?

Givers are solely tasked with overseeing mining on the network, ensuring that it’s decentralized and available to all users.

How can I become a miner?

Follow the links for in-depth instructions on how to become a miner:
GPU mining. How to mine with graphics cards?
How to mine on Windows?

Mining Toncoin can even be done on regular personal computers.
Mine Toncoin with Hive OS

Hive OS is an operating system created specifically for miners. The platform simplifies crypto mining on a GPU, allowing users to manage all mining operations through a user-friendly web interface.

This app is one of the most popular and widely used instruments of its kind.

A Hive OS version was recently added as an official TON miner.

This addition is a significant update because it will attract prominent players who primarily mine ETH to The Open Network.

Onboarding professional miners will increase the cost of Toncoin mining, causing a shift in the market’s supply and demand.

You can find archived instructions on how to install Hive OS here:
https://github.com/tontechio/pow-miner-gpu-hiveos

Additionally, announcements for miners are published in this channel, while questions about Toncoin mining can be asked and discussed in this chat.
Interview with a co-founder of TonWhales.

We’d like to introduce you to the TonWhales team, which develops products for TON’s ecosystem.

The team has its own explorer, validator, and mining pool, which accounts for 75% of the network’s total hash rate.

With the help of the pool, owners of weaker PCs can still participate in Toncoin mining and receive a steady flow of rewards.

We’re happy to announce that the TonWhales team invests 25% of its pool’s commission fees in the TON community and spends time developing convenient non-commercial blockchain modules.

We’re delighted that the TonWhales team has joined and started working on TON.

We had an opportunity to sit down with Sergei, a co-founder of TonWhales, and talk about the blockchain, TON’s prospects, and services that are already available.

You can read the entire interview here:
https://telegra.ph/An-interview-with-a-TonWhales-co-founder-12-07

One last thing we’d like to mention: TonWhales has granted one TON developer access to its repository. At the time of the test, no dangers for users had been found.
Every week on Telegram, new channels dedicated to TON pop up.

We’re happy to see how independent content creators spend their time growing our community. We’ll always encourage those who show initiative.

Therefore, we’re going to introduce you today to one particular channel that makes quality content about TON and blockchains.

Please, turn your attention to:

First TON Site

Exclusively for our subscribers.

The developers are still testing it. The release will be early next year.

TON Internet will work in a browser via http (actually TON has its own protocol, but it is compatible with http). SSL is not needed because encryption is built in.

TON Sites will be accessible through TON Extension for Chrome.

You turn on TON Proxy - you see TON Internet, turn off - you don't.

TON Storage will be compatible with torrents (still in development).

TON Proxy, TON DNS, Ton Storage will be paid with Toncoins.

Well that's the answer why the rate is going up again)

@givemetons
We’re on Twitter!

If you missed the post, you can still cast your vote in supporting Toncoin to be listed on the world’s most prominent crypto exchange.

All you need to do is log on to Twitter and like this tweet.

4,000 people have already shown their support for our token, and we know it’s only the tip of the iceberg.
The Tonkeeper maintenance updates are now complete.

The Tonkeeper wallet has been fully updated. The developers recommend that users update the app in the App Store or Google Play Store for the fixes.
TON Sites, TON Proxy, and TON DNS are in the final stages of development.

Developers at the TON Foundation are already putting the final touches on working versions of the services mentioned above, and we can expect them to roll out in 2022.

With the help of these services, users will be able to use the decentralized “TON internet” in their browser. Watch this video to see how it works.

The developers will never abandon their core principles and will continue to create convenient and intuitive blockchain services for all types of users.

Traffic in the new decentralized TON internet will pass through The Open Network’s nodes, which have a new ADNL protocol.

Every once in a while, a minute amount of Toncoin will be transferred from the wallets of TON Proxy users as a reward given to the network’s nodes.

You might be asking yourselves: “Why not make the service free?”

Because thanks to these micropayments, the network will stay fully decentralized.

Now we’d like to tell you about a new VPN service.

The owner of such a service has to pay for the server, its maintenance, equipment, electricity, and labor, among others.

When this happens, commercial companies store data in a centralized manner: on their own servers.

This type of storage is not the safest method. For example, disgruntled employees might simply leak the private information of users, which happens rather often.

For TON Proxy, this risk is eliminated because the network’s nodes oversee its maintenance.

Anyone with the proper equipment can run a node and receive an income.

This way, the system will regulate itself and become self-sufficient while accomplishing the same economically.

TON fixes the technology’s weak points and creates solutions that will be considered ideal.

Four rules to help you stay safe in the crypto space.

The breakneck growth of TON has left us speechless and continues to defy our expectations by attracting new users and accounts daily.

However, with the good often comes the bad.

Unfortunately, when a blockchain project becomes successful and starts to expand, bad actors come out of the woodwork and take advantage of inexperienced network users.

Therefore, we want to share a handful of rules to help you stay safe in the wild world of crypto and blockchain. Learn these rules and be careful out there.

Rule #1: Always double-check wallet addresses.

Never send Toncoin to strangers or unknown services and organizations.

You should always check addresses with an explorer:

1. Open an explorer (for example, TON.sh).
2. Enter the recipient’s wallet address in the search field.
3. Try to find signs that the address is correct or non-suspicious.

For example, if you send Toncoin to a service, it would make sense if said service’s wallet has a large amount of crypto because it would use its address often to transact in receiving payments.

Although it requires a little bit of research, this method will confirm the reliability and frequency of transactions for any service you’re investigating.

If the wallet of a “service” has only a few transactions credited to it, we can assume that this is most likely scammers.

Rule #2: Learn how to use crypto exchanges.

If you’re ready to buy or sell Toncoin on a crypto exchange, it would be prudent to read all of the instructions, guides, and any materials the exchange has to offer before you make a transaction.

It may be a lot of reading to do before making your first transaction, but it’s for the better. There have been innumerable instances when users forget to pay attention to specific details when buying or selling crypto, while the exchange’s tech support is virtually unable to help, even if it wants to.

If you’re unsure about something when making a transaction, try doing it with the lowest possible amount, for example, 1 Toncoin, to understand the process better.

Always read and follow the exchange’s guides to avoid unwanted (and sometimes irreversible) losses.

Rule #3: Use TON Apps.

Apps, services, and utilities from the TON Apps suite have been developed and are supported by teams that are in open communication with the developers of the TON Foundation.

The @tonblockchain team has audited all the apps in the TON Apps suite at least once.

This is by no means a safety guarantee (no one is protected from bugs, whether small or big), but it’s better than interacting with apps from teams with anonymous developers.

Rule #4: Never trust anonymous teams.

The TON Foundation team meticulously checks every app, service, or resource that launches in the TON ecosystem, and it’s prepared to support developers who actively communicate with the core team.

TonWhales and TON Coin Pool have been exemplary in this respect. Not only do they develop safe products they also regularly participate in the ecosystem’s development.

However, if a project preys on developers and inexperienced users, the TON Foundation will deny any form of support.

Thus, if you come across a new “interesting” project, you must first search for any mention of the project either in the TON Community channel or in the TON Apps suite.

If there are no mentions of the project in the resources mentioned above, heed caution because interacting with it may carry risks.

We recommend doing your own research before downloading or interacting with suspicious services in such a case.

Services that promise astronomically high returns should be taken with a grain of salt. Here’s a side rule: If it seems too good to be true, it most likely is.

Anything can happen: You could lose your crypto, your wallet could get hacked, your computer could become infected with viruses, and so on.

Follow these simple rules to keep yourself safe from bad actors and only trust official sources of information.
Donate bot is integrating support for the Toncoin cryptocurrency.

TON Community is proud to announce that the TON blockchain and Donate, a Telegram-verified payments service, have become official partners.

Soon, users will be able to make donations and pay for their subscriptions in Toncoin, and channel administrators, conversely, will be able to collect their income in the same cryptocurrency.

TON Community is going to publish more details on the partnership in our channel in the coming days.

TON is a blockchain that was created by brothers Nikolai and Pavel Durov in 2017, but the two and Telegram have stepped away from the project. Since then, the TON Foundation has been actively supporting the network.

This is a translation of a post from the Subscriptions channel.
