We are TONLAB, a private Venture Builder and Accelerator for the most ambitious tech startups in the Telegram ecosystem.
This means that we have two major components of our company:
1. An in-house factory producing businesses in the Telegram ecosystem.
2. A framework to help ambitious developers and entrepreneurs to master success in the ecosystem.
So, here is our official channel, where you will find a lot of useful information and real experience not only in building mini-apps in Telegram’s ecosystem, but also making them successful businesses.

In april 2024, before Pavel Durov visited Token 2049 Conference in Dubai, we’ve got an insigt that Telegram wants to develop the mini-app ecosystem.
It sounded pretty similar to what WeChat did in China, with it’s 1.3B MAU (monthly active users) and 4M mini-apps, making $1.33B monthly spendings inside their ecosystem.
Telegram now has 900M MAU and this opportunity for us looked like going to the apple app store right after it’s release in 2008. Sounds attractive, right?
Now, in July everyone is obsessed with clicker mechanics, because it worked for Notcoin and Hamster Combat pretty well. And now everyone wants to achieve an overnight success. Yes, it might be possible, but only in very certain curcomstances.
So here are two big problems why most of the mini-apps will probably fail with their plan:
1.If you don’t do differ from others or don’t have any “unfair” competitive advantages, you are screwed.
That was one of the reasons we decided not to add similar clicker games into our portfolio. We aim to build business, which will be sustainable over the years, and use both strong differentiation and “unfair” advantages we could possibly reach to.
2.You need to build really clear services for mass adoption. We mean really clear, so your granny would understand it! No crypto slang, no overcomplicated mechanics.
The funny thing about Hamster Combat, who used similar approach, is that Hamster in the Crypto slang means “regular user, who don’t know about crypto”. In this terms we think most of their audience now don’t know the real meaning of “Hamster” and it is kinda metric of their success.

What does the New TON Layer-2 Network launch mean for business?

What happened?
A new project called TON Applications Chain (TAC) announced a layer-2 network for the TON Blockchain ecosystem in Telegram. It is compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), meaning that developers who already have built applications under the widespread Ethereum standard could easily port over to the new TAC layer-2 network within the TON ecosystem.
It is also worth mentioning that the project was backed by The Open Platform, an investor focused on the TON blockchain ecosystem, which makes a very positive sign for the community.
What does it mean in simple words?
As a quick note about the essence of level 2 networks — basically it is a blockchain scaling solution, which helps to decrease the costs of operations as well as increases the speed of operations.
What is particularly interesting about this move from the TAC team — they implemented EVM compatibility, meaning it will open access to a large number of users on Telegram to the big existing community of Ethereum developers, allowing them to implement more real-world crypto applications.
It is definitely a good move for the ecosystem, considering the goal of TON Foundation to reach mass adoption with their ecosystem. The only big question remains:
Are most of the very tech-savvy crypto developers capable of building products which will be so simple that they will really reach mass adoption?
