Every Journey Rewarded
(เกาะรัตนโกสินทร์)

Reuniting with an old friend after years apart feels like opening a time capsule — familiar, yet full of surprises.

🇷🇺 Our Russian friend Misha recently met us in Thailand during his exchange program at Thammasat University from MGIMO. I felt the same excitement I had years ago when we first met.

Golden temple spires shimmered against the afternoon sky, while the steady hum of tuk-tuks and the distant chime of temple bells drifted through the warm air.

🗺 We planned a day around Rattanakosin Island and its historic neighborhoods, hoping to experience another facet of the capital.

Bangkok had changed in his eyes — sleeker, busier — yet its spirit remained unmistakably the same.

☕️ A small café on Fueang Nakhon Road became our refuge from the heat. Over coffee, stories unfolded, old memories blending with new ones.

By sunset, I understood something simple: journeys become meaningful not because of where we go, but because of who walks beside us.

Stop by Nuss Bar, an intimate bar with big character, hidden inside the renowned restaurant Nusara in historic Tha Tien — one of Bangkok’s hottest spots for cocktail lovers.

Tha Tien is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Phra Nakhon. Once an important trading port, it remains a vibrant community passed down from generation to generation.

🏆 Here you can enjoy signature cocktails by award-winning bartender Ronnaporn Kanivichaporn, a Thai and world cocktail champion.

🥭 The menu highlights seasonal local ingredients, showcasing regional flavors through drinks that evolve with the seasons.

🍸 My pick is the Palm Daiquiri. Inspired by the classic Daiquiri, it uses palm sugar from Phetchaburi, adding rich sweetness with a subtle salty edge and delicate aroma.

A must-try cocktail spot in Bangkok, where Thai ingredients meet world-class bartending — paired with a stunning night view of Wat Pho.

Address:
Maharaj Road, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok

Beyond Silk
(พิพิธภัณฑ์บ้านจิม ทอมป์สัน)

Step into the world of Thai silk and discover the legacy of Jim Thompson through intricate patterns and a remarkable art collection at the Jim Thompson House Museum in the heart of Bangkok.

🕰 Six traditional Thai houses from different regions of Thailand form a unique complex, blending history, art, and architecture—shaped by his passion for Southeast Asian culture.

🧵 He played a vital role in reviving Thai silk, supporting the Ban Khrua community and elevating every step of silk production—from weaving and dyeing to final design—bringing Thai silk to global recognition.

🧳 The story of the “King of Thai Silk” ended mysteriously with his disappearance in Malaysia in 1967, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations.

Plan your visit this weekend and experience this timeless legacy for yourself.

Address:
Soi Kasemsan 2, Rama 1 Road, Pathumwan, Bangkok

◼️ In the afternoon, we headed to Thipsamai Pad Thai (Pratu Phi). The Pad Thai had a distinct wok aroma and rich, iconic flavor—a must-try. Paired with fresh orange juice, it was a refreshing break from the heat.

◽️ After lunch, we continued to Royal Pavilion Mahajetsadabadin beside Wat Ratchanatdaram Worawihan. The peaceful atmosphere and elegant Thai architecture offered a perfect escape in the city.

◼️ Then, we stopped by Baan Mowaan, a historic pharmacy filled with the scent of traditional herbs, before visiting the serene ordination hall at Wat Suthat Thepwararam.

◽️ We wrapped up the day at the Golden Mount, taking in panoramic views of Bangkok just before sunset. A short, well-balanced trip of food, culture, and calm—ideal for a casual day out.
