Common lies we tell ourselves:

- Staying in jobs and situations that don’t really align with our true passions, talents, and gifts
- Staying in relationships that don’t really align with who we truly are
- Living a life of inauthenticity: fake friends, fake relationships, fake food, fake life, fake everything.
- Pretending like things “aren’t that bad” when we are actually deeply suffering
- Pretending that we don’t have certain feelings, pretending like we don’t have needs and don’t need loving support and healthy relationships
- Acting like difficult experiences in our past that really hurt us “weren’t that bad” and acting like we are over them when its obvious by the quality of our life and relationships that they are still impacting us in a negative way
- Spiritual bypassing and pretending we are above our human experience and difficult feelings when we are just disassociating from them
- Not realizing the consequences of our actions over time
- Ignoring our gut feelings and intuition
- Acting like we don’t need love, approval, appreciation
- Pretending like the expectations, judgements, projections that society, family, peers place upon us are our own
- Not realizing our talents, our beauty, our gifts, and realizing the love that we truly are

Also, insecure and wounded people tend to spend their time “talking shit”, slandering, and gossiping about other people which goes beyond merely objectively disagreeing about something but has an emotional charge based on negative shadow projections, most often related to an unconscious mother/father wound.

I know I’ve done this myself in past based on my own childhood wounds and unconscious envy/jealousy. That’s why sincere shadow work and facing any childhood wounds/trauma is key but is easier said than done because it’s always easier and more tempting to project our unconscious pain on to others, not just to “take them down” but to make ourselves feel better. It also feeds occult entities based on this projected toxic “loosh”.

A truly healthy and confident individual focuses on his/her own life, gifts, creativity, and talents and has never any resentment, envy, need to gossip or other manifestations of insecurity but also embodies a higher degree of compassion. Shadow Work 101.

Investing in our self-care pays itself back in our lives in all sorts of ways that we may not notice. The energy that we receive back is not a direct or obvious exchange and since it’s not I’ll get “this for that” type of commerce, people can often miss the value.

The more well-being we create within ourselves, the more well-being we create in the field around us. Maybe after we get a massage or do a yoga class, we notice that boss that was always hard on us softens up, maybe after we read a book or we get a therapy session tackling a childhood trauma, we get the self-love and courage to actually leave that job — and this catapults into finding one that uses our gifts, one that is more in alignment with our souls purpose, and one pays us back in the inner satisfaction it creates from us serving the world in a way which fulfills the soul.

The way we invest in the well-being of ourselves creates a depth of soul inside; which can also show up as a richness in our lives, a richness of the depths of our relationships, a richness in our connections to our community. The best investment you can make into changing your life is in changing yourself first.
