COMMENT: I sincerely hope that this is wrong. However it was shared to me by a well known person of acute discernment and political savvy so I must presume it to be true until proven otherwise. I, like everybody, would like solid confirmation. If this is true it must be a resigning matter for the government. In any decent functioning democracy a government could not survive a scandal like this. Again I stress this needs thorough verification. It is accepted that the child is very seriously ill, it is accepted that the child has a Polish father and a mother from Brazil. While privacy must be respected it is extremely unusual in such a high profile crime that more information is not released. A veil of secrecy prevails, information is minimised. Parents at their most vulnerable can be easily manipulated by powerful state agencies. I wonder has it been suggested to the parents that their child is responsible for the riots by being stabbed. Anything is possible. This family need prayer, support and immediate access to a good lawyer. Keep asking the questions. This government must do the decent thing and resign now.

COMMENT: I thought politics was about engagement and involvement with local people in local issues every bit as much as national issues. Here we have a group of Gino Kenny’s constituents wanting to talk to him and he hides away inside a building, he refuses to engage. Maybe he knows that he can not defend mass inward migration by unvetted and undocumented males, maybe he is inside figuring out a game plan for his political survival. Maybe he is just not comfortable mixing with ordinary people who want to ask him ordinary questions. Maybe he prefers being with his chums in Dáil Éireann, the Sinn Fein, Fine Gael, Green types. They won’t push him too hard, you scratch my back and I will scratch yours. Perhaps this is another TD called to account by the people and now firmly on the way out.
