I wanted to apologize for the awful quality of today’s page. I’m very sorry, I’m exhausted because of stuff happening irl and couldn’t focus properly. I promise I’ll do better next time

THUNDER got its first review ❀️ ❀️ ❀️ Thank you so so so much!!! ❀️
So, let's start with one comic I'm currently reading and I might've mentioned before: "Thunder".

"Thunder" is an ongoing adult webcomic created by SerenaCypB that combines sci-fi, surreal and horror elements in an story set on the resort town of Esther Bay, where the main character is Aiden, a Maori anthropomorphic sugar glider. He works at a sports shop, "Powercheet", at day. At night, he is a vigilante named Thunder who can control electricity. However, he suffers from MDD (Major Depressive Disorder), something that has been affecting him for a long time.

It's visually charming, with a great panelling and color control that really helps the story build up the ambience in many scenes in a way that feels pretty immersive, both real situations and surreal moments, not to mention it has a remarkable level of attention to details.

The characters design is truly appealing, since every single one exudes personality -and I'd really like to talk about one of them that appears at the beginning of the story as an example, but I'll let you see for yourselves what I mean.

Regarding the story, it got me really caught on it due to its freshness on rhythm and exposition of events, which makes me wonder what could happen on the next pages(and it always surprises you, in fact).

Besides, it truly shows the care and research that has been put on the Maori culture when you look at it, on its depiction of cultural elements and language; and also the way the MDD is represented is quite impactful.

Right now the comic is being weekly published and can be read either on its website (desktop web preferred), on its IG or in its own Telegram channel. Go and check it out!

Even tho I really wanted to do a double publication every week til August, I realized that this could be too much for my health currently, I’m still feeling a bit overwhelmed, so it’s easier to do mistakes and then I end up feeling awful about it β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή so I’ll be back to single weekly publications. I’m super sorry! I really tried guys πŸ’–

Kia ora, everyone! I’m slowly trying to learn Te Reo Māori through the help of a book I ordered back in February and videos online to try and get things right in the comic and … Also because I truly wish to visit Aotearoa one day, health permitting🀞🏻and, when it’s time, I want to at least have a basic understanding and help with the language revitalization. It’s kinda difficult for me, personally, i’m gonna be honest.. it’s a lot of trial and error and memorize a lot of words. And my brain said β€œenough studying” after the university lmao. But it’s really beautiful and I’m challenging myself to be able to understand it a bit once the story is over. One reason to keep working on it. The second reason are the messages you guys sent me on ngl. I wasn’t expecting to receive so many kind words about a project that I was starting to feel like it was just a drop in the ocean. I had no idea many of you enjoyed it that much and I’m glad you guys started looking into the Māori culture, it’s really awesome and it really deserves love. And curiosity is always good πŸ’– Thank you so much for everything. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do more webcomics after THUNDER because the online environment has changed a lot and its taking a very specific path that I don’t agree with. But hopefully things will change again. So yeah, just take this post as it is: me rambling and thanking you for the support and patience with me. πŸ’– Ngā mihi i tō tautoko i a au.
