Armenian Tech Investor Alexander Smbatyan Acquires Global Tech Event Company EMERGE 🚀

Alexander Smbatyan has acquired EMERGE, a global tech event company connecting the tech ecosystems of Eastern Europe and Central Asia since its inception in 2017.

Over the past seven years, EMERGE has hosted events with over 20,000 attendees, spotlighting emerging tech hubs like Minsk, Yerevan, Istanbul, and Dubai.

The conference has facilitated startups raising over $30 million, including VOCHI, which raised $1.3 million at EMERGE and was later acquired by Pinterest.

Alexander will lead the company forward, while EMERGE's co-founder Anna Sholina will stay on as a minority shareholder.

The next EMERGE conference is scheduled for this autumn in Yerevan, Armenia, promising to build on the success of the 2022 event in Yerevan.

❗️Zach Coelius: For us the quality of updates is No1 indicator of a startup success. If a startup founder is able to periodically provide meaningful updates to its investors (providing both ups and downs on its journey) it is a good sign for investors.

From my personal experience, I would say that in the best case only 1 out of 10 funded startups realizes how important it is to proactively share updates with its investors.

As a CEO of an Angel Network I am spending a solid time reaching out to startup founders and asking them to update their investors.
