🔒 Liquid Network: 35 days frozen after ~4,000 BTC drained, and LBTC still can't be redeemed

Liquid Network has been sitting on frozen peg-outs for 35 days after nearly 4,000 BTC got drained. The 'white hat' hacker gave back most of the loot, then quietly kept the rest as a 'bounty'. LBTC holders still can't turn their tokens into real bitcoin. Some bounty program.

▪️ The attacker exploited a vulnerability in Liquid's Elements software and pulled nearly 4,000 BTC out of the L2 network. Nice hole to find.
▪️ By Sept. 7 they had returned about 3,400 BTC, then kept 598.5 BTC and demanded a 10% bounty from Blockstream. Negotiating with a straight face, that takes talent.
▪️ Blockstream refused outright and demanded the rest back. Nothing came back. The 598.5 BTC is still sitting in that wallet, and it's not going anywhere on its own.
▪️ Peg-out operations remain suspended. Liquid's Sept. 29 update said an independent external audit of Elements v23.3.4 is underway. Translation: they're still checking how the door got opened.
▪️ The Liquid Federation is replacing PAK list entries and moving all peg-out keys to cold storage before restarting redemptions. Keys go to cold storage after the fire, very on brand.
▪️ Holders who couldn't wait moved coins out through SideSwap and SideShift.ai, paying roughly 5% in spread and fees, with weeks lost to thin liquidity. Those who waited still get to hold the bag.

📊 Drained from Liquid: ~4,000 BTC
📊 Returned by attacker: 3,400 BTC
📊 Still held by attacker: 598.5 BTC ($49.69M)
📊 Liquid backing: 86%

Every LBTC holder is down 14% on backing, and nobody has a restart date. The attacker's wallet is still getting address-poisoning spam and weird OP_RETURN messages, which is exactly what a dead end looks like. If you hold LBTC, the real question is whether the audit and key rotation finish before the people who paid the 5% exit tax are the only ones who got out.

🔮 A 'white hat' sitting on 598 BTC and asking for 10% is not a bounty. It's a ransom with a nicer name.

📊 Majors snoozing green, alts running casino night: one pump, one dump, crowd getting drunk on green candles

BTC +1.40% and ETH +2.36% over 24h. Majors are green and boring, so nobody's panicking. Below them it's a casino, and the house pays out to whoever chased the first green candle. Spoiler: the house is you.

▪️ W +59.6% on $35M and S +26.5% on $42M lead the pumps. CKB +22.8%, MAGIC +17.0%, FIL +14.1% trail behind. The feed doesn't say why any of them moved. So you're buying a story nobody bothered to write.
▪️ LUMIA -26.1% on $25M was the worst drop of the day, MUBARAK -10.1% on $23M second. Same tape, opposite direction. The chat that chased the green is usually the one stuck holding the red bag.
▪️ STRK traded $87M at -0.1%. WLD moved $37M at -0.2%, RLUSD $28M flat. Heavy money parked in place is either accumulation or someone unloading straight into your bid. Pick your poison.
▪️ Metaplanet sold 10,000 BTC for ¥124.7B, then bought back 11,000 BTC for ¥149.9B, paying ~9.3% more per coin. Call it treasury management, I call it paying a premium to look solvent.
▪️ Ledger confirmed an unauthorized hardware implant tied to its devices, losses may top $86M. The company says it looks isolated to one reseller and its Southeast Asian market.
▪️ An attacker exploited a Liquid Network Elements vulnerability 35 days ago and drained nearly 4,000 BTC. Thirty-five days and the bag is still waiting for an answer.

📊 BTC 24h: $84,204
📊 ETH 24h: $2,566.29
📊 Fear & Greed (yesterday 61): 69 Greed

Greed at 69, up from 61 yesterday. The crowd is warming up, and that's exactly when the chat starts buying screenshots of green candles and dumping the dip on whoever's late. Liquid holders can't peg out LBTC to bitcoin until the audit ends. Ledger users are waiting on a company still saying 'isolated' while the loss figure could keep climbing. Hope isn't a strategy, it's a bag.

🔮 Metaplanet paid 9.3% extra per coin to look creditworthy. Greed at 69 says the crowd will pay up too.

🩸 BTC closes the week above $83K and the shorts get cooked

The bears got rinsed again. About $140 million in short positions were liquidated after bitcoin confirmed a weekly close above $83,000, and price is back near $84,000. Kook Capital's heatmap already shows a fresh wall of shorts stacked at $86,000 to $88,000. Same trap, just a floor higher. Bears never learn. They keep buying the ceiling.

▪️ The setup: BTC opened the week of Oct. 5 at $86,530, wicked down to $80,393, and the crowd piled into shorts on that dip. Classic. Someone sees a red candle and decides the world is ending.
▪️ Crypto liquidations topped $1.1 billion over the same stretch. This wasn't a one-coin accident. The whole casino got squeezed.
▪️ Kook Capital data: $26.34M in BTC liquidations, 93.3% of them shorts. ETH shorts lost $29.5M, and 80.9% of that was also shorts. Same story, different ticker.
▪️ Alts got farmed too: Starknet's STRK lost $15.82M in liquidations and NEAR another $7.18M. Small caps bleed harder. Nobody's surprised.
▪️ The trigger: the weekly candle closed near $83,800 Sunday night. Anyone short from $80K got the signal to cover, and covering is exactly the fuel the squeeze runs on.
▪️ Next trap: KillaXBT's map shows dense short clusters from roughly $86,000 to $88,000, with longs sitting lower around $80,000 to $82,500. Read it again.

📊 BTC weekly close: $83,773
📊 Spot BTC ETF outflows, Oct. 5 to 9: $681M
📊 Binance BTCUSDT funding: 0.002% per 8h
📊 Open interest on Binance BTCUSDT: $7.75B

Positioning looks neutral for now: funding is near zero, open interest is flat, and about 58% of Binance accounts are long. Translation: nobody's all-in yet. The weak link is spot. ETFs bled $681M and Coinbase's premium is deep negative, so US buyers are paying less than offshore. Real money in the US isn't buying this dip. The bulls need a consistent spot bid, and until they get one, that $86K to $88K short cluster is the next fuel if price pushes through.

🔮 Shorts are stacked at $86-88K again. Guess who's going to be the exit liquidity this time?

🐋 Hyperliquid whale is up $20.55M on NEAR and quietly shorting the majors

One Hyperliquid wallet bought 5.76 million NEAR at $2.35 back in September and now sits on roughly $20.55 million in unrealized profit, with NEAR around $5.82. The same wallet is also running about $14.7 million in shorts against BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, BNB, ADA and AVAX. Classic move: ride the pump, then short everything else just in case. They call it hedging. I call it having the exit already planned.

▪️ Onchain analysts spotted the long once it crossed $20M in floating profit, right after NEAR ripped more than 145% in a month. Nobody sends a bat signal for the guy who got in early.
▪️ Timing did the heavy lifting. Bitwise's NRR, the first U.S. spot NEAR ETF, launched Sept. 29 and pulled in nearly $58M in its first week. Smart money bought the ETF headline, retail bought the chart.
▪️ Usage backed the story: NEAR Intents logged $1.84B of volume through September, with cumulative volume estimated at $31-33B across 30+ chains.
▪️ Supply got tighter. A late-2025 governance change cut max annual inflation from about 5% to roughly 2.5%, and a proposal would push it toward 1.6%. Less printing, more pumping, same old song.
▪️ The shorts are bleeding: about $1.33M underwater, AVAX down ~$623K, ADA ~$327K, SOL ~$207K. The BTC short was opened at $79,550, so every grind toward $84K is paying the house.
▪️ Risk math: 10x leverage on a $34M position means a 10% NEAR pullback erases about $3.4M in one candle. Liquidation sits near $1.33, roughly 77% below current price. Sleep well, hero.

Retail is the crowd buying the chart after a 145% monthly run, while this whale got in before the ETF headlines. Their long is safe until NEAR dumps hard, but the shorts keep leaking money every time BTC grinds higher. Watch whether ETF inflows hold: analysts warn NEAR's RSI has already pushed into the 70-80 overbought zone, and ETF money leaves as fast as it arrives.

🔮 Who is really hedged here: the whale, or everyone chasing NEAR at $5.82?

📉 $304M in leveraged positions wiped out as Bitcoin slid ahead of CPI

Bitcoin slipped 1.5% to near $82,400 on Monday afternoon and the leverage crowd paid its usual tax: 89,032 traders got liquidated in one day, per Coinglass. Nobody's catching this knife. Everybody's sitting on their hands and praying for the US CPI and PPI prints on Oct. 14 and 15.

▪️ Bitcoin is down 3.5% over seven days but still 6.7% above its Sept. 12 level. Call it a shakeout, not a collapse. It still ripped out the overleveraged, and that was the point.
▪️ Coinglass data: BTC longs took the biggest hit, but shorts got caught too. Pure leverage roulette, and the house collected from both tables.
▪️ About 1.45M BTC has its cost basis between $84,000 and $86,500 and sits at a small loss. Those holders will likely sell as price climbs back to their entry.
▪️ Only 69.6% of supply is in profit, below the 75% that usually shows up during sustained advances. Bitfinex says buyers are not coming back in meaningful size. So the rally is running on fumes.
▪️ The line in the sand is $81,300. Lose it again and the question becomes whether ETF outflows resume. Watch that level like your rent depends on it, because for some of you it does.
▪️ Dow +0.4%, Nasdaq -0.3%, Treasury yields near 5.24%, oil climbing. Total crypto market at $2.79T, down 1.82% in 24 hours. Stocks shrug, bonds flinch, and crypto gets to take the hit like always.

📊 BTC longs liquidated: $42.02M
📊 BTC shorts liquidated: $21.19M
📊 Supply in profit: 69.6%

If you're long with leverage above $82K, congrats, you're exit liquidity for whoever actually has spot money. A hot CPI on Oct. 14 raises the odds of an October increase and pushes yields up, which is bad for BTC all over again. A soft print gives you a relief bounce, sure. But Bitfinex's own read is that good macro news only lifts bitcoin when spot buyers actually follow through. Right now they're not following. Nobody's chasing back in, and that's the whole story.

BTC sits on $83.5K after $140M in shorts got fried. Greed cools to 57

BTC is at $83,545.58 (-0.76% in 24h), ETH at $2,521.17 (-1.78%). Nearly $140M in bitcoin shorts got liquidated after BTC closed the week above $83K, so the idiots betting against it footed the bill for the week's first real move. Mood's still bullish, just less hammered than yesterday.

▪️ Top green: GTC +47.0% on $29M volume. Nobody says why it ran. Check the book before you chase a 47% candle, because the guy who pumped it doesn't need your money, he needs your bags.
▪️ Top red: W -32.9% on $42M. STRK -17.8% on $58M, ENA -12.9% on $65M. ENA has the most money behind its drop of the big losers, so that's where I'd dig first.
▪️ Kook Capital's heatmap shows a fresh cluster of bearish leverage between $86,000 and $88,000. That's the liquidation magnet sitting right above price, and it's bait for anyone who thinks the move is…
▪️ Hyperliquid whale went long 5.76M NEAR at $2.35 back in September, now sits on about $20.55M unrealized profit, and is short seven of the market's biggest coins.
▪️ Crypto liquidations hit $304M ahead of this week's US CPI and PPI. BTC dipped 1.5% to near $82,400 Monday afternoon, and analysts are watching $81,300 as support.

Fear & Greed is at 57 (Greed), down from 69 yesterday. Euphoria is cooling, nobody's panicking yet. The real test is this week's CPI and PPI prints: a hot number with $304M already liquidated is how the next $140M gets shaken out. Break $81,300 and the longs who chased the weekly close become exit liquidity, and they'll be the last to figure out why.

🐋 Two whales, one Monday: an OG Bitcoin stack wakes up while another whale eats a loss to dump BTC

A Bitcoin wallet that had sat frozen since August 2024 just moved its entire 4,582 BTC ($377.6M) in one go, per Lookonchain. Same day, a second whale swallowed a $5M loss to dump 837.8 BTC and rotate into 27,500 ETH, routed so convolutedly a tax accountant would need a sedative.

▪️ The OG stack: 4,581.94 BTC landed in a single transfer on Aug. 7, 2024, then sat there for more than two years.
▪️ At 6:37 p.m. UTC on Oct. 12 the full balance left in one transaction, split into five pieces and sent to fresh addresses with zero history. Clean wallets, clean slate, zero fingerprints.
▪️ As of Tuesday morning, not a single satoshi had been spent. Analysts call the split custody restructuring or an OTC desk warming up to sell. Not panic. Nobody in this market panics that neatly.
▪️ Whale No. 2 (flagged by EmberCN) sold 410.1 BTC on Hyperliquid for about $34.13M in USDC and bought 13,527 ETH at $2,523.
▪️ The route: BTC into Hyperliquid, sold for USDC, USDC withdrawn to Arbitrum, bridged to Ethereum, then swapped for ETH onchain.
▪️ The bleed: 410.1 BTC bought at $95,434 is about $39.1M, sold for roughly $34.1M. That's a realized loss near $5M, or 13%. Nobody takes a 13% haircut to cash out.

📊 OG wallet moved: 4,582 BTC ($377.6M)
📊 Whale No. 2 realized loss: ~$5M (13%)
📊 ETH bought by whale No. 2: 27,500 ($69.68M)
📊 Longs wiped Monday night: $406M

ETH bulls are staring at the ETH/BTC ratio like it owes them money, and the ratio just broke a line they didn't want to see. Bitcoin dipped under $82,000 Monday night, vaporized $406M in longs, then bounced back above $83,500 on Tuesday, because somebody always needs a bounce to sell into. Bitcoin and ether ETFs bled $1.2B last week, so the institutional bid isn't carrying anyone, it's just standing there. Meanwhile Tom Lee's Bitmine has passed 6M ETH, close to 5% of supply, which is the corporate bid bulls wave at every time the ratio sags. Whether that bid holds is the only question that matters, and it's the one nobody on CT wants to answer.

🐋 Strive bought the dip and now holds 32,773 BTC

Nasdaq-listed asset manager Strive (ASST) just dropped 3,311 BTC worth $280M, its biggest buy since January. They scooped the coins between October 5 and 9, while Bitcoin slid off recent highs near $87,000. While retail was panicking, these guys were vacuuming up cheap coins.

▪️ Who: run by CEO Matthew Cole, trades as ASST. Went public through a merger with Asset Entities, then bought Semler Scientific to pump up the balance sheet.
▪️ When: Monday's report showed the buying ran from October 5 to 9 at an average price of about $84,500 per coin, fees included.
▪️ Ramp-up: at the end of September they spent $94.5M to take the stack to 27,000 BTC, then early this month added another $169M, their biggest accumulation in four months.
▪️ Stack grew from 29,462 BTC a week earlier to 32,773 BTC now.
▪️ On top of the coins, they hold about 505,000 STRC preferred shares from Strategy. So it's another bet on the same story, just wrapped in a different ticker.
▪️ Same picture across the sector: Strategy added $21.5M in BTC while buying back its preferreds. DeFi Development Corp keeps stacking SOL, and Bitmine is loading up on ETH.

📊 Stack value at current prices: $2.73B
📊 Cash on balance sheet: $310M
📊 STRC package: about $50M

Classic treasury company playbook: raise capital, accumulate the coin, and tie the stock price to BTC. While Bitcoin climbs, it's a rocket. When it sags, the stock premium starts looking very suspicious. Regulators are already eyeing how well these premiums hold up without constant buying. Buying the dip only pays off on a bounce. Otherwise you're left holding the bag.

🔮 Who becomes exit liquidity when the buying stops?

🐋 Whales shuffle, Strive loads up, GameStop's CEO buys in

BTC sits at $83,514 (-0.13% over 24h), ETH at $2,506 (-0.59%). Flat tape: big money is busy, retail is busy staring at it. Top movers are mostly small caps, and the fattest volume is sitting on the red side. Classic setup.

▪️ Green: BAT +14.0% on $22M, OP +12.7% on $24M, INJ +5.3% on $21M. Big candles on thin volume is exactly where chasers get farmed. Don't be the one holding the bag they're handing out.
▪️ ZEC +3.0% on $186M is the green move with real money behind it. PEPE +2.7% on $29M? Just noise. Ignore it.
▪️ Red: QNT -7.0% on $32M, STRK -6.0% on $26M, ONDO -4.0% on $21M, SPCXB -3.3% on $30M.
▪️ NEAR -5.5% on $191M is the one to watch. That's serious volume walking out the door, not a sleepy drift lower.
▪️ Whale: a wallet holding 4,582 BTC (about $377.6M) moved its entire balance Monday, per Lookonchain. Same day, a second whale dumped 837.8 BTC at a loss and bought 27,500 ETH.
▪️ Strive (Nasdaq-listed asset manager) bought about $280M of BTC at roughly $84,500 average, lifting its total to 32,773 BTC. Paying above the current tape.

📊 Fear & Greed: 62 (Greed), yesterday 57

Sentiment jumped from 57 to 62. Translation: the crowd is chasing green candles, not buying the dip. When greed climbs while whales rotate and an insider buys, the usual script is retail piling into the movers right before the bid thins out. NEAR bleeding $191M in volume is the first place that shows up. Watch that one.

Bank of America Hit With $1,200,000,000 in Penalties After Failing To Report Over $5,000,000,000 in Suspicious Transactions

Bank of America has been hit with more than $1.2 billion in federal penalties after regulators said it failed for years to flag over $5 billion in suspicious transactions.

More than $1 billion of that unreported activity involved national security and other high-priority risks, including Chinese money-laundering networks and activity tied to the southwest border, reports CNBC.
🐋 Some anon yanks 1,162 BTC out of Wintermute, whales hit an 11-month high. Retail, you're on the menu

An unidentified investor moved 1,162 BTC out of Wintermute into five brand-new wallets in 12 hours, per Lookonchain. Cryptoquant says Bitcoin whales now hold 3.03 million BTC, their biggest stash since November 2025. Translation: the big boys are loading up while you sit there with your hands in your pockets.

▪️ Lookonchain caught it: 1,162 BTC left Wintermute and landed in five freshly created wallets inside a 12-hour window. All of it is sitting there on Arkham if you care to look.
▪️ Splitting a buy across fresh wallets is standard custody hygiene for big holders. It also means nobody can see the real size of the position, and that's exactly the point.
▪️ Cryptoquant counts holders of 1,000+ BTC, excluding exchange and mining pool addresses. Monthly whale balance growth is at its fastest pace since February.
▪️ The bottom sat around 2.87 million BTC in December 2025. The previous bull peak was about 3.23 million BTC, so whales still have room to run, and you still have room to be the exit liquidity.
▪️ Spot ETFs flipped positive year-to-date at roughly 2,300 BTC (about $1.5 billion) after about 83,000 BTC of outflows earlier in 2026. Funds came back in once the price was already up.
▪️ Bitcoin trades near $83,700. Cryptoquant flags $80,000, the 365-day moving average, as the support to watch for a pullback. Put that level in your alerts before you start 'buying the dip' on vibes.

📊 Whale holdings: 3.03M BTC
📊 Retail borrowing under $100K, Sept change: -17.2%
📊 ETF net inflow YTD: ~$1.5B

Retail borrowing dropped while whales lever up on BTC-collateralized USDT loans. Smart money is adding exposure on cheap leverage, and the small fish are the ones getting squeezed on the way down, as always. If $80,000 breaks, the whole bull narrative hangs on whether these big holders keep buying the dip. They have not promised a thing, and they never do.

🚨 HEX founder Richard Heart reportedly detained in Istanbul: watches, guns, cash

Reportedly, HEX and PulseChain founder Richard Heart got grabbed in a dawn raid in Istanbul on Oct. 14, and dozens of luxury watches, firearms and cash were supposedly hauled out of his home. 📊 Watches seized (Sözcü): 64
📊 Cash, highest reported: $4M
📊 Raised per SEC complaint: $1B+
📊 Diverted to luxury, per SEC: $12M

If you hold HEX or PLS, this is the headline that drags the old drama back out of the closet. The founder's personal brand was the product, and now that brand is a police file. The SEC case got dismissed in 2025 on jurisdiction, not on the merits, so nobody ever tested the allegations in court. That's the part the bagholders keep skipping. Formal charges, extradition and what happens to the reported seizures are all still open, and the Finnish criminal probe is alive and well. Trade the headline if you want, but don't pretend you know where the money goes.

🕵️ Brooklyn DA and FBI just smashed a crypto scam that fleeced Russian-speaking Americans

Brooklyn prosecutors and the FBI took apart an international crypto scam that stole tens of millions of dollars from Russian-speaking Americans, many of them Brooklyn residents. The playbook is the oldest one in the book: sell the mark an "investment", then come back and sell them a fake way out. Hamsters, meet the second scam.

▪️ Step one: victims got pulled into an "elaborate investment scheme", and the money went into cryptocurrency that investigators later traced. The pitch was the product.
▪️ Step two: weeks after the theft, the same crew called the same people back, promising they could recover the funds. That's a recovery scam, and it feeds on people who already lost everything.
▪️ The Brooklyn DA's Virtual Currency Unit traced the coins and mapped the tech stack behind the operation, then the FBI came in to pull it apart.
▪️ Prosecutors say it's one of the largest cyber enforcement actions a local prosecutor's office has ever run. Nice PR. Now go count the arrests.
▪️ Same office, last year: a man who impersonated crypto exchange support staff took nearly $16 million from about 100 victims. He pleaded guilty and was recently sentenced to up to 12 years.

📊 Scam sites nuked: 241
📊 Servers yanked: 112

Got someone in your chat already burned by one of these 'investment' outfits? The recovery guy who calls next is the same scam in a new hat. The takedown hit domains and servers, and the release says nothing about arrests of the people running it. The sites are gone; the operators aren't mentioned as caught. Domains are cheap, people are not. Never pay anyone to get your money back.

▪️ ATM means no one-time deal. The company dumps new common stock into the open market in chunks, whenever it feels like it.
▪️ Clear Street is the agent doing the selling and takes a cut of gross proceeds. Somebody always gets paid on the way out.
▪️ Proceeds go into TRX purchases on top of the daily buying program announced in February. So it's a buy program with a second engine bolted on.
▪️ The treasury holds 718.9M TRX after its latest buy: 149,369 TRX at an average $0.3347 on Thursday. Nice bag, shame about the price on the other side.
▪️ The daily program was set at about $50,000 of TRX a day for 360 consecutive days. Small change. The ATM is what actually scales the bag.
▪️ Shares opened lower on Thursday and were already down roughly 67% over 12 months, per Yahoo Finance. The stock is the one that's melting, not the coin.

📊 TRX in treasury: 718.9M
📊 Max commission to agent: 3%
📊 Daily TRX buy plan: $50K
📊 Shares at Thursday open: -4.7%

If you hold TRON shares, the new stock supply is the problem. Every ATM sale adds shares to a stock that's already sliding, and the commission comes off the top before anyone sees a dime. The treasury is worth about $237M on paper, so the gap between that and the share price is what you should be watching. Anyone chasing TRX as a pump should clock this: the buyer is a company that has to keep selling stock just to keep buying coins. That's not a bid, that's a conveyor belt.

🔮 So who's the exit liquidity here: the TRX holders or the poor bastards buying the shares?

🌅 BTC $82,250, Greed at 63, and the top 'losers' are stablecoins doing nothing

BTC sits at $82,250 (+1.25% in 24h), ETH at $2,448.89 (+3.48%). Fear & Greed jumped to 63 (Greed) from 53 yesterday. The room's getting cocky again, and that's exactly when somebody starts selling to it.

▪️ INJ +25.6% on just $40M volume, ZRO +21.4% on $24M. Thin volume spiking this hard is a book somebody can walk straight through. Don't call it a trend yet. Call it bait.
▪️ STRK +14.3% on $65M. NEAR +11.8% on $212M, ZEC +11.2% on $234M. That's where the real money is sloshing, and the data gives zero catalyst for any of these moves.
▪️ Top losers: USD1, RLUSD, USDC, U and FDUSD, all within ±0.1%. USDC alone traded $3.6B. Nobody lost a cent here, the stables just got shuffled around. Nice 'losers' tab, though.
▪️ Criminals stole an estimated $90M in crypto by tampering with hardware wallets. It's a supply chain attack, and the item says it could erode user trust.
▪️ Nasdaq-listed Tron treasury company holds about $237M in TRX and set up a $200M at-the-market offering to fund more TRX buys. Translation: they'll pump the bag with new money and call it a strategy.
▪️ CoreWeave co-founders sold $3.3B in stock since the IPO while shares declined. Investors read it as a concern about AI infrastructure financial stability. Insiders dumping into a falling chart.

Greed is rising while the strongest moves run on thin volume, so an INJ or ZRO reversal would hit fast. The Pirate Chain rollback is a governance fight. If the team pushes it through, ARRR holders get their coins back. If not, they eat the mint. Watch whether NEAR and ZEC volume holds today.

🔮 Greed at 63 while the biggest 'losers' are stablecoins. Who is actually getting sold to today?

🐋 XRP whales are shoveling coins onto Binance: 7-month high

Big XRP holders moved 1.669 billion tokens to Binance over the last 30 days. Per CryptoQuant (analysis by Arab Chain), that's the highest since early spring. Price is sitting around $1.33 after a lousy October, and nobody has officially labeled the whales as sellers. Yet.

▪️ The metric tracks rolling 30-day transfers from large holders to Binance. The September peak was around 1.65 billion, then a pullback, and now it's back on top.
▪️ Top five by tracked balances: Upbit ~6.44 billion XRP, Coinbase 5.84 billion, Binance 2.76 billion, Bithumb 1.85 billion, Uphold 1.75 billion.
▪️ Sample: 699 public wallets across 24 exchanges, XRP Insights snapshot as of October 15. Unknown wallets aren't in it, so these numbers are an estimate, not an inventory.
▪️ The catch: most XRP sitting on exchanges belongs to customers, and some of it is tokenized reserves and operating cash. A deposit is not a sell order. Relax, the whale didn't just hit market sell.
▪️ Price: XRP entered October around $1.49 and has given back 10–12% since. Last week it's down 5–8%, depending on how you count it.

📊 Value of 1.669 billion XRP at $1.33: ~$2.22 billion
📊 All public exchange wallets: 22.06 billion XRP
📊 Binance weekly increase: +54.6 million XRP

If you're long XRP around $1.33, these deposits aren't some abstract chart candy. Every transfer is a potential wall of sell orders waiting to drop on your head. The analyst himself warns that rising deposits don't necessarily mean selling, so for now it's a question, not a verdict. Watch whether these coins actually turn into orders on Binance, and whether price holds above $1.28–1.29. If it doesn't, you already know who the house was waiting for.

💬 «Increased whale inflows to centralized exchanges can increase the amount of XRP available for trading, potentially raising the risk of selling pressure» — CryptoQuant (research by Arab Chain)

🔮 A deposit isn't a sale, but nobody's calling it a gift either. Who's already short, and who's waiting for the whales to press the button first?

🔫 Crypto exchange owner snatched at gunpoint, and the kidnappers had army-issue ammo

Toronto police charged seven men, three of them Canadian Armed Forces members, over the July abduction of a crypto exchange owner. That's 82 charges, kidnapping for ransom included. Forget a wallet on the table. These guys wanted into his crypto assets and his business security systems.

▪️ July 25, 2026: the victim was approached as he got to his vehicle near Finch Avenue East and Bayview Avenue, grabbed at gunpoint, handcuffed and beaten.
▪️ Police say the goal was access to his cryptocurrency assets and business security systems. He was targeted for that access, plain and simple.
▪️ He was let go after being threatened and warned not to contact police. Police have not named him or his exchange. Shocking, nobody wants to be the guy on the news.
▪️ Arrests came in waves: Saiefeddine Adem and Raheem Bishop-Jackson on July 26, then Talarambage Fernando, James Moreau and Christian Darbandi on August 11, then Jack Miley and Suhaib Alekozai on…
▪️ Fernando and Moreau are reservists with the 7th Toronto Regiment and were pulled from military duties after their arrests. Miley is also confirmed as a Canadian Armed Forces member.
▪️ Searches of homes and cars turned up a shotgun, two 9mm guns with 3D-printed receivers, two silencers, GPS trackers, handcuffs, meth, cocaine and over 2,700 rounds.

📊 Charges laid: 82
📊 Men arrested: 7
📊 Rounds seized: 2,700+

If you're the guy with the keys, your home address is now part of your security model, and your exchange is just a map pin for whoever wants in. Police say there are no outstanding suspects and no more arrests are expected, but the investigation is still running. Canada has seen this movie before: WonderFi CEO Dean Skurka was released after a $720,000 ransom was paid in 2024, and a man who kidnapped a victim for a $1 million Bitcoin ransom got 13 years in September 2025. Cold storage doesn't help when the person holding the seed is the weakest link, and nobody on your team is budgeting for a home invasion.

💬 «The victim was allegedly targeted because of his access to cryptocurrency assets.» — Chief Superintendent Joe Matthews

🔮 Hardware wallet, 2FA, cold storage... and the one thing nobody hardens is the guy who owns the keys. Who's next?

🚀 STRK +122% on a 'maybe we become our own L1'. Now the herd is running for the exit

STRK ripped 122% from October 8 to 11, closed at $0.1232 and is up 210% in four weeks. The fuel: Starknet said it is actively considering dropping its Ethereum Layer 2 role and becoming a Layer 1. Then the crowd piled in at the top, and now the chart is bleeding.

▪️ Oct 8: Starknet says it is considering becoming its own Layer 1 instead of staying an Ethereum L2, with full quantum resistance planned by 2027 thrown in as a bonus. Nice sales pitch.
▪️ Oct 8 social sentiment was still -0.51. Then it flipped as the pump picked up speed and hit +12.44 on Oct 11, the highest reading of the whole move.
▪️ Peak day: 2,823 active addresses and 1,166 new wallets, about 13x the recent average for new wallets. Everyone arrived late to the party, as usual.
▪️ By Oct 13: active addresses down 63%, new wallets down 81%, price down almost 30%. Classic retail exit at the worst possible moment.
▪️ Meanwhile the 10 largest addresses hold around 7.09 billion STRK, their highest combined balance since April. Whales loading up while the herd runs.
▪️ Next catalyst: around 127 million STRK unlocks on October 15, nearly 1.7% of circulating supply. Someone is about to get a lot of fresh coins to dump on you.

📊 Oct 13 new wallets vs peak: -81%
📊 Top 10 addresses balance: ~7.09B STRK

You bought an L1 story, but Starknet has not confirmed it will move away from its current setup. So you bought a maybe, at a premium. Sentiment cooled, activity fell, and a 127M STRK unlock lands on October 15. Right now the only thing holding this up is big wallets quietly accumulating.

💬 «We're considering multiple options, including becoming an L1.» — Eli Ben-Sasson

🔮 Pumped on a 'maybe', and the only ones still buying are the whales. Who's holding the bag this time? You already know.
