Why do I post scripture every day with normal, everyday photos?
1. Because scripture is applicable to our normal, everyday life. We should be remembering it, thinking on it, living it out, as we are washing eggs, sitting with our cats, driving through town, reading books, and teaching our kids.
2. Because it exposes the legalism in people on the internet who don't understand that, and walk in a critical spirit instead. 😎
"Why did you use THAT photo?"
"You should have a Bible in that photo." "What do cats have to do with this?"
"Five stars for the the thought, zero stars for translation." (This from the KJV-only camp, who think that's what Jesus read.)

I'm going to keep sharing verses with everyday photos. It's helping me gain more and more familiarity with passages (and their addresses, especially), and I hear from many of you that you appreciate them, too.
Plus, it makes it easy to spot trolls, religious or otherwise, who need to be blocked. 😁🤍

Father God – Your children are overwhelmed. You know the heartaches, frustrations, roadblocks, and temptations we are facing. We need You.
We can only face the setbacks and disappointments with Your help.
We need Your counsel as we face the challenges of parenting, the trials of difficult people, the grief of losing those we care so deeply about, the stress of making ends meet, and the fear of the unknown.
We ask for Your strength to be poured inside us. We ask for Your peace to soothe us. We ask for Your mercy to save us. We ask for Your grace to sustain us. We ask for Your wisdom to guide us.
We ask for You to give us patience and hope as we wait on Your perfect answer.
We ask for Your protection and believe that You have carved out beautiful moments for us to enjoy.
It is in the perfect name of Jesus we pray to You.

Not Just Get By, But Fly
This morning I observed a little bird. It hopped around on our lawn presumably looking for food. I thought about how if this was the bird's only mode of transportation (hopping), it would seem that this animal was very hindered by its movement abilities. Yet, as awkward as birds appear on the ground, the opposite is true for most birds when they take flight - then they soar unencumbered. All the stumbling, hopping and effort on the earthly plain is removed when they fly toward the heavens.
We are like these birds. We weren't created to continually walk through the mire and stay on the ground - we were made to soar.
Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
We have an opportunity everyday to leave the struggle and the muck, and soar into heavenly places - soar into the Lord's presence. What do we receive in His presence? For one: fullness of joy.❤️
Psalm 16:11
You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Malachi 4:2
But to you who fear My name
The Sun of Righteousness shall arise
With healing in His wings;
And you shall go out
And grow fat like stall-fed calves.
The Lord also comes to us with healing in His wings.
God wants us to walk with Him unencumbered and free of burdens and weariness. In Proverbs 9, we read of Wisdom preparing a table for us. On that table is everything we need for us to be successful daily. That Rhema Word, that nourishing Manna is laid out for us every day. We have no need to walk in confusion, but instead are given a daily opportunity to walk in provision.
When we come to the Lord and set aside time to spend just with Him, He begins to lift us. He meets us and lifts us up above the noise, the turmoil, and the confusion. When we rise above, we can think and see clearly. There is peace in His presence. We are always meant to come to Him, before moving forward on our way.
Exodus 40:36-37
In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out—until the day it lifted.
May we learn to live like the verse above - not to set out on our way, unless the Lord goes before us and we are always enveloped in His presence.
Let's pray:
Father God, help us to set aside time to spend with just You daily. Let every encumbering distraction fall away from our time with You. Draw us into Your presence, where all we want - where all we need is You. Take us to new heights where we can soar above, and our strength is renewed as we wait on You. You are so faithful to meet us - may we also be faithful to come to You. In Jesus' name, amen.❤️
