We had this on Thursday night it shook my house I honestly though a bomb had gone off and there was a huge flash another loud bang and that was it ,was so weird I nearly shit myself to be honest 😂 .everyone said it was thunder but in my 59 years of living I’ve heard nothing like it and certainly wasn’t like thunder,a lot of people thought a plane had crashed .this was cumbria

The same thing happened in South Cumbria in Aug 2020. Two huge explosions ( i felt my house move) passed off as thunder with the sky lighting up every second all night! I thought they were blowing the DUMBS under Morecambe Bay! My 60 year old house has developed several new cracks since this happened too. It was no thunderstorm thats for sure!

From Hackney Police - UPDATE We've received several calls about loud bangs in the Stoke Newington area this evening. No major incidents have been reported to us. The noise appears to have been caused by thunder and lightning.
