A strategy of tension is a political policy that encourages violent struggle rather than suppressing it, with the aim of creating a general feeling of insecurity in the population and making people seek security in a strong government.

The strategy has been implemented numerous times throughout history and involves the use of violent criminal actions by state agents to engender a climate of fear that blames the violence on a dangerous "public enemy”.

The opening of the 2024 Olympic Games was replete with symbolism and performances that sparked shock and disgust. Overtly sexual #LGBETC themes, a drag performance that parodied religious imagery, and depictions of historical figures were met with revulsion. At one point, a man in hot-pants had his testicles exposed next to a young girl, broadcast to an audience of millions, including children.
A giant bull's head, representing Baal, associated with demonology, was also included for some reason. If that wasn’t enough, a segment entitled “Darkness,” featuring dancers who fell down erratically, is seen as mockery of the “Died Suddenly” phenomenon, which has gained attention due to “unexpected” athlete collapses during events.
