Clauses to be concerned about:-

Paragraph 235 - energy smart appliances are defined and include fridges, dishwashers, washers, heaters, air conditioners and electric vehicle charge points.

The paragraph goes on to state that the smart function of such appliances is “capable of operating in response to load control signals from any person carrying out load control.” This means that the Govt can hand control of smart domestic appliances to anyone they wish to carry out load control. "Load Control" is the ability to switch your smart appliances defined above off at will when THEY choose.

Paragraphs 230 and 231 - "heat zones" and how zones will be enforced. Like we see elsewhere in the bill penalties can be levied for non-compliance. What are "heat zones" and what kind of penalties are we talking about?

Paragraph 246 - powers for the Secretary of State to make regulations enabling or requiring energy usage or energy efficiency of premises to be assessed, certified or publicised; enabling or requiring improvements to energy usage or energy efficiency to be identified and recommended.

Restrictions or prohibition on the marketing and disposal of premises on the basis of whether energy usage or efficiency has been assessed, certified or publicised.

Sanctions - 12 months prison and £15,000 fine for non compliance, as we have previously discussed.
