I keep breaking the promise to myself to stop commenting on US politics, but it just floors me how no one seems to see the obvious.

Critics of the current regime on the "right" have been tying themselves into knots and stabbing and biting each other viciously, to explain their relatively poor result in November — and last night in Georgia — but keep falling for media narratives (it was all Trump's fault! Let's have him and DeSantis fight!).

Yet there's the GOP establishment that never forgot Trump for ending the Bush and Cheney dynasties, so they actively worked against the candidates he endorsed, joined Democrats in denouncing January 6 as an "insurrection against Our Democracy," voted with the Democrats to make same-sex marriage into law just today (giving Nancy Pelosi one big win to retire on) and are leaking to the media that they're about to give Democrats an amnesty for millions of illegal migrants too, using the lame-duck session and the votes of half a dozen senators about to retire. The same "collaborator caucus," I want to point out, that immediately after the 2020 election took out TV ads backing Biden.

Why would anyone vote for a party that systematically betrays its base like this? "Democrats are bad" is not an argument, especially when you vote with them!

If there is a political solution to this, I don't see it. Now excuse me while I look for a "washing my hands of it all" emoji.
