Happy new year from Technodroid!
In terms of new and interesting innovations 2025 did not disappoint. Samsung launched Galaxy XR, its answer to Apple's Vision Pro, while Meta's Orion prototype AR glasses became Meta Ray-Ban Display. Another research project that became a real product is Google's Project Starline realistic video conferencing system, now known as Google Beam. Meanwhile, brands like Xiaomi showed prototype phones with DSLR lens support. In the AI space, Google's Nano Banana series drastically raised the quality of image generation, while OpenAI's Sora 2 did the same for video. Some notable smaller projects include VLC, which demonstrated AI powered subtitle generation. Finally, Apple's operating systems got a new design, as did Android.
This year was also big for Technodroid, which turned 5 years old. We experimented with new formats - such as Technodroid Weekly, which will return in 2026 - and covered events from more companies than ever.
Wishing our subscribers a happy 2026, filled with innovations and progress.

Revealed: a new privacy feature on #Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Samsung usually launches S series phones early in the year, which means that there will be more and more leaks in the coming months. The latest is a tip showing Privacy display, a feature on the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Privacy display reduces the viewing angle of the display, similar to some screen protectors on the market. This feature can be turned on manually from quick settings or automatically in selected apps or for selected notifications.
This display will likely stay exclusive to Galaxy S26 Ultra, as it's rumored to have Samsung Display's recently announced Flex Magic Pixel technology, which reduces the viewing angle. However, it's rumored to come to the next Z Fold and Z Flip phones too.
