Accidentally revealed: #meta's AI glasses with display.
Meta accidentally published a video showcasing upcoming products, including Meta Oakley Sphaera and the new Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses.
This video reveals that Meta's first glasses with a display will have messaging, a vision capable version of Meta AI, translation and messaging, presumably using Facebook Messenger. It also reveals Meta's latest wrist-based neutral interface, which detects hand gestures, as opposed to voice and eye tracking.
This is the latest version of Meta's smart glasses, after the Orion prototype, which was shown at Meta Connect last year. This year, Meta Connect will be on September 17.

#meta releases its first AR glasses.
After being accidentally revealed a day before Met Connect, the Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses have been officially released.
The biggest addition, as seen in the name, is a display. Some of the features made possible by this display are WhatsApp messaging and video calls, directions and live translation powered by Meta AI. Meta also promised to release an SDK for developers wishing to make apps for the new platform.
Meta Ray-Ban Display is controlled using the Meta Neural Band, which uses EMG technology to detect brain signals associated with hand movement. Voice control with "Hey Meta" is also available.
Meta Ray-Ban Display costs $799 and will be available September 30 in select US stores.

Prepare for the mobile networks of the future.
5G networks are slowly being built around the world - but #Samsung is already preparing specifications for sixth generation mobile networks.
According to Samsung, 6G networks will be AI-native and software based, while also keeping in mind sustainability and security. Samsung is participating in the Verizon 6G Innovation Forum alongside telecommunications giants Ericsson and Nokia - yes, that Nokia - as well as Meta and Qualcomm.

#Qualcomm announces the chip powering next year's Android flagships.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has a 20% more powerful CPU, with a max frequency of 4.6 GHz for its prime core. Alongside the 23% improved GPU, it is the world's fastest mobile system on a chip, beating even Apple's A19 Pro in benchmarks, while being up to 16% more power efficient.
The new Snapdragon chip has support for ray tracing and complete support for Unreal Engine 5. A 37% faster Hexagon NPU unlocks on-device learning and real-time multimodal AI. This is also the first chip to support Advanced Professional Video (APV).
Devices from brands like Samsung, vivo, Oppo, Realme, Xiaomi and Sony will feature this chip, and the first of them will be launched in the coming days.

Satellite support in a #Samsung phone - not in a Galaxy far, far away.
There have been countless rumors about the next Galaxy S phone supporting satellite connectivity that turned out to be false once the phone was revealed. But this time, there is evidence to back up this claim.
In the latest update to Samsung Find, tipster ThatJoshGuy (via Android Authority) found a new satellite mode page. The page states that the user's location will be shared once every 15 minutes in satellite mode. Based on information found by Android Authority they can also send a message with the location as a one-time share.
Sadly, ThatJoshGuy couldn't find any more information - but we did. We tried to recreate how users in satellite mode will appear in the People tab in Samsung Find, based on data in the new version, in a new #exclusive render. Users in satellite mode will have a small message stating that they're in satellite mode.

This one is for the analog fans: #Kodak announces new film.
Despite being replaced for most of us with digital photography, analog film remains popular with a community that's growing every day. For this community, Kodak has announced its first new film products in 7 years: Kodacolor 100 and 200.
Now, technically, these aren't completely new - Kodak describes them as "sub-brands of existing Kodak films". However, there is something new - for the first time in over a decade Kodak itself is distributing this film.
Kodacolor 100 (second sample image) is a low-speed, daylight-balanced film that delivers saturated colors, fine grain and high sharpness. Kodacolor 200 (first sample image) is very similar, but can perform better in low light.

#OpenAI just changed the game - meet apps in ChatGPT.
Building on the proven MCP protocol, ChatGPT apps are essentially parts of other apps that can be launched inside ChatGPT. An app can be referenced in a message and show its own UI.
The first apps are available today from partners like Coursera and Figma, and an SDK is available for developers.
Alongside apps, OpenAI announced the availability GPT-5 Pro and Sora 2, its latest video generation model that offers realistic videos, in its API for developers making apps with AI. Thanks to this, Sora 2 is already available in some third-party apps like Higgsfield.

After announcing a partnership with Google and Qualcomm to make XR devices in 2023 - and countless teasers after that - Samsung has finally announced the reveal date of Project Moohan, the first Android XR headset: October 21, at 10 PM ET.
Samsung has already shared some information, like health and safety warnings, and the headset can be pre-registered on Samsung's site. Both Samsung and Google are hard at work behind the scenes, with the former adding Galaxy XR support to the camera app on its phones via Camera Assistant and the latter testing a "Spatial" tab in Google Photos.
