After years in the making, Google announced Android XR, its virtual and augmented reality platform developed with Qualcomm and Samsung.
But where Android XR and Gemini 2.0 truly shine is smart glasses, which Google considers a lifestyle product rather than a game console or a productivity device.
To make them slimmer, Google offloads some computing to a connected phone.

#Google broadened the horizons of its mobile OS with Android XR.
First teased at Unpacked last year, Google has finally unveiled Android XR, a virtual and augmented reality platform developed together with Qualcomm and Samsung.
The first Android XR device, Project Moohan, is a virtual reality headset. On VR headsets, the platform supports both passthrough mode and immersive experiences, as well as regular Android apps. AI features like Circle to Search and Gemini 2.0 are integrated with the OS. Developers can build XR apps with new libraries, including one for the Unity game engine.
But where Android XR truly shines is smart glasses, which Google considers a lifestyle product. There, Gemini is shown understanding the world, offering smart suggestions, as well as functioning as a virtual assistant, in demos which bring back memories of the concept video the company released 12 years ago to show their vision for Google Glass.
Other details on Android XR remain scarce.

#OpenAI brings ChatGPT to phones - and not just smartphones.
Now, if you need help and are in the US, you can call the AI assistant at 1-800-CHATGPT (1-800-242-8478). It uses the same technology as the Advanced Voice Mode feature. Users who prefer text or who are in other countries can chat with it using WhatsApp.
This version has a daily conversation limit. Users will be notified once they are about to reach it, at which point they should continue in the ChatGPT app or on the website. Additionally, custom instructions aren't supported.

The phones are likely the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. Three of them are likely the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra. The fourth might be the rumored Galaxy S25 Slim (or Galaxy S25 Special Edition), a new high-end flagship. It is rumored to have a 6.6-inch display, a 200MP primary camera and a battery between 4700mAh and 5000mAh.
Alongside it, Samsung will likely tease Project Moohan, its virtual reality headset powered by Android XR.
