#Samsung might launch a second foldable this year - its slimmest yet.
Rumors about a slimmer version of the Galaxy Z Fold6 have returned as Samsung faces fierce competition from Chinese brands and Google.
According to Evan Blass (aka evleaks), this new phone will be called "Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition". It's expected to only launch in China and South Korea.
Evan also shared the dimensions in a series of cryptic images that were deleted since. Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition has a thickness of 10.6mm when folded (4.9mm when unfolded). This is 1.5mm thinner than Galaxy Z Fold6, but still thicker than phones like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Honor Magic V3, the thinnest foldable phone on the market.
The phone has a 6.5-inch outer display and 8-inch inner display, which makes it slightly larger than the Z Fold6 (6.3 and 7.6 inches respectively).

#Lenovo puts a twist on the 2-in-1 laptop.
And we mean that in a literal sense - the Lenovo Auto Twist AI concept laptop, announced at IFA 2024, has a screen that can turn, with a dual degree of freedom automatic rotation system in the hinge.
This means that the lid can open itself when the laptop is powered on, close itself when the user is away and turn around to transform the laptop into a tablet with a voice command. It also allows for face tracking for the camera and automatic panorama capturing.
While the Lenovo Auto Twist AI concept laptop isn't coming to market anytime soon, Lenovo also announced new laptops that will be available this year. These include the ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 - a cheaper Copilot+ laptop powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon X Plus - as well as some models with the latest AI processors from Intel and AMD.

OpenAI launched its first language model capable of reasoning. The model was trained to spend more time thinking about a problem than solving it, creating and following chains of thought just like a person would. Because this is a major change in how AI systems work, OpenAI decided to name it o1 instead of GPT-5.
This is #OpenAI o1, a next generation family of AI models.

The model was trained to spend more time thinking about a problem than solving it, creating and following chains of thought just like a person would. Because this is a major change in how its AI systems work, OpenAI decided to name it o1 instead of GPT-5.
Thanks to these improvements, in a qualifying exam for the International Mathematics Olympiad, o1-preview scores 83% on the International Math Olympiad, while GPT-4o only got 13%. Chain-of-thought reasoning also improves protection against jailbreaking, as the next generation model can reason about the safety rules set by OpenAI.
o1-preview is now available for ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users, as well as select developers using the OpenAI API.
Besides o1-preview, OpenAI is also releasing o1-mini, which performs similarly, especially in STEM-related tasks, to o1-preview while being 80% cheaper to operate and around 3-5x faster. o1-mini is also available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users, with OpenAI planning to release it to all ChatGPT Free users.

#Qualcomm is looking to acquire #Intel.
Intel, once the biggest manufacturer of processors, is in a bad financial situation. The company lost in technological advantage to rival chip manufacturer TSMC, didn't make a successful chip for the generative AI boom, and has fierce competition from rivals like AMD in the desktop and console market. As a result, since the start of the year its shares have lost nearly 60% of their value.
But, an unlikely company is here to help: Qualcomm, best known for its Snapdragon line of mobile and laptop chips. CEO Cristian Amos is reportedly (via Reuters) involved in five-year negotiations to acquire Intel, and Qualcomm executives were examining its extensive portfolio.
However, this deal is still at an early stage, with no formal offer being made yet.
