Here are the specs of the #Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.
Prolific leaker Kamila Wojciechowska, together with 91mobiles, has shared the full spec sheets of the upcoming phones.
The most important change is a guarantee of 7 years of updates. While we don't know the amount of Android versions the phones will receive, this surpasses most other Android brands including Samsung and OnePlus, and might come close to Apple, which supports iPhones for around 7 years with new iOS versions.
Other specs include a 6.2-inch "Actua" display for the Pixel 8 and a 6.7-inch "Super Actua" display for the Pixel 8 Pro. The phones will get a 4575 mAh and 5050 mAh battery respectively, with support for 30W fast charging. Both phones will include a front camera with auto focus and face unlock. For storage, the Pixel 8 will have 128 and 256 GB variants, while the 8 Pro will also be available in a 512GB and 1TB (US only) variant.

#Google celebrates its 25th birthday.
Technically, today isn't Google's birthday - the company was founded on September 8, 1998, while google.com was registered a year earlier, on September 15th, 1997. But every year Google picks a slightly different date to celebrate its birthday.
To celebrate, Google has added an Easter egg - searching for "happy birthday" or "Google's 25th birthday" shows fireworks. Google is also running a promotion on the Google Store, while Pixel Superfans get free wallpapers.

#Xiaomi replaces MIUI with HyperOS.
CEO Lei Jun announced on X, formerly Twitter, that the Xiaomi 14 series will launch with Xiaomi HyperOS instead of MIUI worldwide.
HyperOS will reportedly have a "completely new rewritten architecture", though it's also claimed that it will still be based on Android. According to Xiaomi VP Alvin it will offer "Hyper performance, fluidity and connectivity across smartphones x AIoT".
This marks the end of the 13 year history of MIUI, the company's customized version of Android. MIUI was Xiaomi's first product and launched even before the first Mi phone - back then, it was offered as third-party firmware for popular Android phones.

#Apple announces an event on October 30.
October 30 is the day before Halloween, the scariest day of the year - and Apple is celebrating it by showing "scary fast" announcements.
But what kind of announcements? Apple often hides hints in event announcements. Usually they're cryptic and vague, but this time, the teaser is pretty clear - the announcement page has an animation where the Apple logo turns into an outline of the macOS Finder icon, hinting at new Macs.
Apple is rumored to reveal a new iMac, replacing the 2021 model, a new Mac mini and possibly new MacBooks.

#Apple's "Scary fast" event will have an unexpected host.
As we noted earlier, the event, where new Macs are expected to be announced, is a day before Halloween. Halloween is a holiday when people celebrate all that is spooky, and Apple is no exception.
As spotted in the Podcasts app, the event will be co-hosted by the spirit of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who helped create the Mac, along with other iconic Apple products like the iPhone and iPad. He sadly passed away on October 5, 2011, a day after the iPhone 4s was announced.
We don't know his role in the event yet, but it will be clear during the event, which starts on October 30, at 5 PM (Pacific Time).

A hint at Steve's role could be the photo itself - there he is around the same age as when he first showed off the Macintosh, which hints that the original Macintosh reveal might play a role .
Keep in mind that this is speculation.
