built a ticketing thing for a friendβs 12th grade graduation prom basically admin books the ticket, guest gets ticket image right away, and at the door you just scan so thereβs no chaos
open sourced it if anyone wants to check it out https://lnkd.in/dCxNYFR4
made it with php + mysql, and honestly Cursor helped a lot
if you like it drop a star on the repo, would mean a lot π

Sounds obvious but - much of building a good product is literally asking your target customers detailed questions, understanding their workflows ... and literally just building that.
We have talked to so many researchers to build ScholarXIV and implemented everything common that was raised.
Then building the upcoming health tab led to us talking to SO MANY doctors, health professionals and students and that was such a gold mine of feedback.
So yeah, literally just talk to the people you are building for.

I agree with him. Otherwise, it will just be a random system/SaaS built by the developer's imagination.

a project I forgot to share π
as a volunteer at DDAC summer camp we were struggling to take attendance and track student progress, so I built a system to make that easier for me, the other volunteers, and the admins
students + teachers use it daily β registration, sessions, attendance (students can self check-in), reporting, progress tracking
php + mysql
not open source yet, but Iβm planning to open it up when I can

found a pretty nasty bug in one of my projects π
a runaway client side loop kept re fetching the same assets from Supabase Storage every few seconds. over ~3 weeks it turned 363 MB of media into 59 GB of bandwidth... enough for Supabase to suspend the project π ... so i'm migrating the database + storage to a new Supabase project, compressing all the media, and fixing the fetch logic so this never happens again.
will update y'all π₯
