This painting by Charles William Wyllie depicts the Angel pub in #Rotherhithe, South #London (c.1887) [101 #Bermondsey Wall E, #London #SE16]. Like many riverside pubs, it was a den of cut-throats & press gangs. It sits on what was once the manor house of King Edward III (1300s).

Male chimpanzees display the extremities of human behaviour. Nearly all of them are both murderously cruel as well as overtly effectionate. The hindrance of heightened intelligence and the confusion of linguistics hinders among man that which 'nature' enacts 'naturally'.
