Observations about Tennessee. The people are lovely. The radio stations play exceptional music. I found myself scribbling down bands and songs over the past two days. The Shoney’s Breakfast Buffet was being destroyed by Cincinnati Bengals fans as if they were conquering warlords. The Titans fans poked at their pancakes with blank stares. Such joy and sorrow experienced from a game where grown men throw and catch an object. If only such passion and investment could be seen in fixing 2020.

I pray that Aaron Rodgers would come to know Jesus Christ, if he hasn’t already. Then I pray that he would come to the Denver Broncos. You know… because my team is terrible. Fix 2020 first (then fix the Broncos).

I've said this before, but humor and pop culture are difficult subject matters to convey to a 140,000 plus audience.

If you have to explain a joke, you've already lost the battle.

Occasionally I talk about the culture, movies, public figures, books, songs, and sports.

Yes, I'm aware that 99% of those that have been elevated in the culture are not Christians. Many have very dark and twisted lives.

Nonetheless, I love non-Christians, and people in general. I once could be described as the former, and still hopefully qualify as a person now.

God saved a wretch like me.

The unbeliever is the battlefield of where the Great Commission takes place.

What a line to walk as a Christian...

To be in the world, but not of the world. What a paradox....

So what's my point?

I don't necessarily expect Christian things from those that reject my faith.

Rather, I expect the opposite. And while I've known many a moral person in my life, all who reject Christ are hellbound.

By the same token, I'm a creature that grew up in the trailer park and knows dysfunction well. I was raised on The Replacements, G n R, and the Wu Tang Clan.

I watched every bloody action and horror film that was produced before I had children.

I watched the Denver Broncos play every Sunday.

My attraction to the world before I was Christian was a natural consequence of my fallen condition.

Now the attraction to all of the above has lessened, or in some cases, no longer exists.

In other words, my tastes have changed over the years as God has performed the slow and steady work of sanctifying my character.

I still curse, and grumble, but hopefully less.

I still lose my temper with my children, but hopefully less.

Praise God that He has already accomplished the work of justification in my life through Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.

All this to say, I'm an unemployed traveling audit/canvass salesman trying to figure "it" out.

I try to hold other professing brothers and sisters in Christ accountable, and likewise, submit to the scriptural authority that corrects me when I'm wrong. But I'm no legalist. I'm no Pharisee.

You profess Christ, be Christlike.

Don't be a pharisee.

I'm a fan of the word "bruh."

Like Abruhham Lincoln.
