The Ministry of Commerce issued a statement on the evening of April 23, confirming that Cambodia has been and will continue to strictly implement all international trade measures, obligations and commitments made since becoming a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Furthermore, the ministry is in the process of organising additional special procedures for exporting goods to US markets.

A fire broke out at the renowned Dhara Dhevi Hotel in Chiang Mai province in the early hours of Wednesday (April 23). Firefighters and rescue teams worked swiftly to contain the flames within a limited area, and there are no initial reports of injuries or fatalities.

Vietnamese criminals deported

The General Department of Immigration (GDI) deported 20 Vietnamese nationals from Cambodia on April 23. The deportees were sent home in relation to cases related to illegally residing in the Kingdom, as well as online scam operations and illegal detention, with several of the deportees completing sentences in Cambodia prior to being deported. The GDI, under the Ministry of Interior, carried out the deportation through the Prek Chak International Border Checkpoint in Kampot province.
The Cambodian government has set a goal to exit the group of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) by the end of 2029.

Navy commence frigate training with Chinese support

Naval officers and sailors are undergoing specialised training aboard a frigate at the Ream Naval Base, with support from the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) of China. General Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), conducted a visit and inspected the training activities on the morning of April 24, according to the RCAF. The training took place just two days after two Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) vessels – the first international ships to dock at the modernised facility – departed the port on April 22.
