Sometimes you need to focus on the small battles first. Like gathering enough courage and getting out of bed even if you don't want to. Like letting loose the tangled mess of your hair. Like going to the grocery store to grab some fruits and veggies. Like cooking for yourself. Like putting your clothes in the laundry and getting in the shower one day at a time. Sometimes you need to ignore other people's progress and focus on your own steps -like meeting up with a friend over coffee. Like applying to a new job that you, or booking that holiday. Like smiling at your reflection in the mirror and getting dressed even if you're not going to step out. Like stepping out anyway to get some fresh air, to browse around the aisles of shops and cafes that used to make you happy. Like moulding back into your old life, but as a new you. It's not about jumping head-first into your healing. It's about the tiny actions each day that bring you closer to feeling warm again. It's not about waking up one morning and feeling miraculously healed. It's about moving forward-step by step- as gently as you can. It's about letting your heart heal as softly as it can, and the way it should. That's what it's about.

There's so much more to life than finding someone who would want you, or being sad over someone who wouldn't. There's a lot of wonderful time to be spent discovering yourself without hoping someone will fall in love with you along the way, and it doesn't need to be painful or empty. You need to fill yourself up with love. Not anyone else. Become a whole being on your own. Go on adventures, fall asleep in the woods with friends, wander around the city at night, sit in a coffee shop on your own, scribble your thoughts in a diary, cook your favourite dishes, dress up for yourself, build your career, make money, smile a lot, help others. Do all things with love, but don't romanticize life like you can't survive without anyone. Live for yourself and be happy on your own. It isn't any less beautiful.
