Algeria is closing its airspace to all UAE-registered aircraft β civilian and military β starting midnight Friday, one day after cutting diplomatic ties.
The UAE ambassador was given 48 hours to leave.
The UAE response was notably soft, calling the rupture hopefully "temporary."
Algeria's President Tebboune has previously called the UAE a "micro-state" where "wherever they set foot, blood flows."
This is the second Arab state Algeria has severed ties with after Morocco in 2021.

More on the Russian fleet being hit:
Ukraine hit Russia's Novorossiysk naval base β the Black Sea Fleet's main remaining port β with a combined drone and missile strike overnight.
The confirmed damage list is significant.
The General Staff says three warships hit (minesweeper Zheleznyakov, Kalibr-carrying frigate Admiral Essen, and landing ship Pyotr Morgunov) plus fuel storage.
Ukrainian intelligence and OSINT add frigate Admiral Makarov, a Buyan-M missile ship (assessed inoperable), patrol ship Vasily Bykov, several missile boats, and two air defense radars near Gelendzhik.
Ukraine says a domestically built Neptune anti-ship missile hit Admiral Essen.
Separately, Ukraine struck Makhachkala port on the Caspian β a key Russia-Iran logistics hub.
Zelensky said Ukrainian forces hit eight Russian infrastructure sites "from the Arctic to the Caspian" in the same period.
This is the deepest sustained pressure on Russia's Black Sea Fleet since Ukraine forced the partial evacuation of Sevastopol.

Russia's balance of payments just posted a record $12.2 billion in "net errors and omissions" for Q2 2026 β the largest unexplained hole since records began in 1994.
The previous record was $8.3 billion in 2009.
It jumped from $1.4 billion the quarter before β an 8.7x increase.
In plain terms: $12.2 billion left Russia and nobody can officially account for where it went.
That's roughly 10% of quarterly export revenue and a third of the trade surplus.
The central bank calls it a statistical discrepancy.
Bloomberg reported in July that several of Russia's richest people β including Kremlin-connected figures β moved billions abroad over the past year through crypto, gold, Dubai property, and private funds.
Destinations: UAE, Cyprus, TΓΌrkiye, Saudi Arabia, Africa.
Motivations cited: slowing economy, budget strain, and fear of state asset seizures β which have totaled ~980 billion rubles in 2026 alone.
It's not courtroom proof of capital flight.
Sanctions workarounds, parallel imports, and oil payment timing can all inflate the number.
Russia still ran a $21.4 billion current-account surplus that quarter.

A Russian Z channel shared rather weird footage. It was released on an aviation enthusiast milblogger of Russia showing a picture of Charlie Kirk stamped on a Russian FAB-500 glide-bomb with a sentence written on it "Ukraine can never defeat Russia." The footage was shared on the annual time of his assassination so show solidarity but rather using his words as to find refuge among American populace for their own agendas, as most of the pro-war Russsian channels always do.

British military intelligence estimates that 500,000 Russian soldiers have been killed since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, with total casualties including the wounded reaching about 1.5 million.
UK armed forces chief Air Chief Marshal Sir Rich Knighton said most losses came after January 2023, while Russia gained only around 2% more Ukrainian territory.
βThese numbers illustrate clearly the senseless and futile waste of human life for such little progress,β he said.

Saudi Arabiaβs East-West Pipeline, a key route carrying crude oil from the countryβs eastern fields to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, was struck by projectiles on Thursday, according to US officials.
The strikes hit pumping stations along the pipeline and triggered fires.
Satellite imagery showed damage at several locations, though it remains unclear whether the pipeline itself was seriously damaged or how long repairs could take.
One US official said drones may have originated from Iraq.
