When you attempt prelims multiple times and unfortunately have to appear again, one of the main challenge is to read the same books again.

Since one has already read the books multiple times, not just one finds it boring, one is also prone to merely reading/passive revision as the brain will not consciously register/recall the information but simply try to recognize it.

Consequently this will hurt him/her as s/he would be under the impression that the revision is done but Yaad Nahi ayega exam me>leading to many negatives as your ego will not allow you to leave the question given the number of times you have read it.


But should be done then?

Friends, you need to move towards active revision by solving tons of MCQs. You may not read much before the test as it might have poor efficiency. Instead, you may attempt the MCQs, mark the topics which you find challenging, and revise those topics immediately after the test. Your brain will be much more active now and revise very efficiently because it has been probed on those topics.

Only caution is, you need to have a disciplined attempt of tons of MCQs to have sufficient coverage.

Also, you can use this to develop your own test taking startegy (how many questions to attempt, how to choose between 50:50 questions, which type of questions fetch you more negatives?.)
