Escape from reincarnation is the aim of Buddhism and there is a similar equivalent in Platonism. But I don't think this was the original attitude of Indo-European pagans, or even of the original Indo-Aryans. Rig-Veda 2:53 verse 1 prays to Rudra:

"Do not cut us off from the sight of the sun. Let the hero spare our horses. O Rudra, let us be born again through our children."
