He passionately refused to be called an existentialist. He’s often analyzed as an absurdist, but I don’t think it matters much since absurdism is a branch of existentialism, same shit different bathroom

There is a difference between what Kant would have said versus what his theories and basic commitments might entail. For Kant it is the intent that matters, not the outcome.
Kant would have almost certainly opposed abortion as he opposed suicide, claiming we have a perfect duty not to do either. His theory, which ties moral duties to rationality, complicates this. Since fetuses lack rationality, like animals (to whom Kant said we owe no duties), his philosophy might not prohibit abortion unless we argue for the fetus’s potential to become rational
