Dermer did not specify how long Israel intends to maintain these positions but linked the withdrawal to Lebanon’s enforcement of ceasefire terms, including keeping Hezbollah away from the border and preventing its rearmament. While Israel initially agreed to withdraw within 60 days, it later extended the deadline, citing Hezbollah’s lack of cooperation. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun reaffirmed his stance on a full Israeli withdrawal by the set deadline. Meanwhile, US envoy Morgan Ortagus confirmed that "February 18th will be the date for redeployment," without addressing Israel’s plan to hold its positions.
