Further clarification points on the tournaments....
General Tournament rules
1. We will have tournaments both on Wednesdays and Saturdays
2. The tournaments on wed are the mini-tournaments. They last just one day, and it more for fun and vibes more than anything.
3. The tournaments on sat are the major tournaments, aka monthly tournaments.
4. To keep things fair, we will not be playing normal chess games. As there may be an elo imbalance between the players in the tournament, we will be playing on the 'balanced / odds' mode.
Monthly Tournament Rules
1. The monthly tournaments will be held over a month. (duh)
2. The tournament style will have two phases. The Round Robin and the Knockout Stage.
3. In the first three Saturdays of the month, we will have the Round Robin style group stages, where every player in the discord will play every other player. (Image 1)
4. Each group stage game will allow players to earn points. 1 point for the winner, 0 points for the loser. In the case of a draw, both players will earn 0.5 points.
5. At the end of the three weeks, the total tables will be added up together (Image 2 - individual weeks table, Image 3 - aggregated group table)
6. The last Saturday of the month is the finals week. This is where we move on to the Knockout stages.
7. VERY IMPORTANT: To participate in the final knockout stages of the monthly tournament, a player must partake in at least 2 of the 3 Saturday Round Robin games. (Image 4)
8. We designed the Knockout stages to be in the Stepladder format, where the lower ranking players must climb the ladder by beating multiple players. (Image 5)
9. The winner of the Knockout round will be crowned that month's Chess Champion of the group.
May the best player win!

Happy International Women's Day!
The woman I respect the most is my Mom. She made me who I am today (minus the goofiness🥀).

🚀 Introducing Dataset.ET
The future of AI should speak Ethiopian languages.
Today we are launching Dataset.ET — an open community initiative to build the largest dataset for Ethiopian languages.
Why this matters:
Most AI systems today barely understand Amharic, Afaan Oromo, Tigrinya, Somali, and many other Ethiopian languages. Without datasets, AI will ignore our languages.
Dataset.ET is changing that.
What we are building:
• Speech datasets
• Text datasets
• Community-validated language corpora
• Open infrastructure for Ethiopian AI
How you can help:
1️⃣ Record sentences using our Telegram bot
2️⃣ Validate recordings from other contributors
3️⃣ Help expand datasets for Ethiopian languages
No technical skills needed — just your voice and your language.
🤖 Start contributing:

Together we can teach AI to understand Ethiopia.
