The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has announced it will start reimbursing academic user fees for the 2024/2025 academic year under the government’s No-Fees-Stress policy. This initiative, directed by the Ministry of Education, targets students in accredited diploma or degree programs and supports the Mahama administration’s focus on human capital development. Mafaatihi Wunnam Alidu-Cotachi, a Basic 6 pupil at UCC Primary School on the South Campus, emerged as the winner of the Chinese Bridge Competition in the primary school category, held at the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

He claimed first place among nine contestants from UCC and the University of Ghana, Legon, and was awarded a tablet, a plaque, and a 55-inch television.

President John Mahama directs Ghana Education Service (GES) to restore Parents Teacher Associations (PTA) in Senior High Schools arguing that sidelining parents from school governance has undermined accountability and community involvement.

At a meeting with GNAT on June 11, 2025, John Mahama criticized the sidelining of PTAs, calling for their full restoration in school governance. He announced plans for teacher housing in new schools, a home ownership scheme, and a national pension review. Mahama also highlighted decentralizing school supervision, praised GNAT’s investments, and reaffirmed his commitment to teacher welfare and education quality.
