Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
• NCDs are medical conditions or diseases that are not caused by infectious agents.
• They are typically of long duration and progress slowly.
The four main types of NCDs are:
1️⃣ Cardiovascular diseases (like heart attacks and stroke)
2️⃣ Cancers
3️⃣ Chronic respiratory diseases (such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma)
4️⃣ Diabetes
India's Strategy to combat NCDs:
• National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS)
• NP-NCD 2023-2030 Strategic Operational Guidelines
