National Handloom Day - August 7
👉The first National Handloom Day was celebrated in Chennai in 2015.
👉The date, 7th August, was chosen as the Swadeshi Movement was launched on the same date in the year 1905, which was based on Bal Gangadhar Tilak's ideology of swadeshi. @tgpscnotes
👉On this day, the handloom weaving community is honoured and the contribution of this sector is highlighted.

PULSES
✅India is the world’s largest producer of pulses with 23 million tonnes from an acreage of 30 million hectares. The country accounts for 35 per cent global area and 27 per cent of global production. Pulses are commonly grown under rainfed conditions all over India (87 per cent rainfed) during two principal seasons of the year, namely, kharif and Rabi.

✅Top Pulses: Top six pulses grown in India are chickpeas (chana), pigeon pea (Arhar/tur dal), urad beans (urad dal), mung beans (moong), lentils (masoor) and peas.
✅Top States: Production of pulses has largely shifted from northern India to central and southern part. More than 90% of total pulses production is realized in 10 states namely, MP, Rajasthan, UP, Karnataka, AP, Gujarat, Jharkhand, CG and Telangana
✅Net Importer: India accounts for 25% import of Pulses across the world.
✅Demand-Supply Mismatch: With the rising incomes and fall in the poverty combined with greater health consciousness, the demand for pulses has run ahead of production.

వక్ఫ్ చట్టం అంటే ఏంటి?
మన దేశానికి స్వాతంత్య్రం వచ్చిన తర్వాత మొదటిసారిగా 1954లో ఈ వక్ఫ్ చట్టాన్ని అప్పటి ప్రభుత్వం తీసుకు వచ్చింది. అయితే ఆ తర్వాత పలుమార్లు.. ప్రభుత్వం ఆ వక్ఫ్ చట్టాన్ని సవరించింది. ఇందులో భాగంగానే 1995లో ఈ వక్ఫ్ చట్టాన్ని తొలిసారి సవరించిన సర్కార్.. మరిన్ని అధికారాలను కట్టబెట్టింది. ఆ తర్వాత 2013 లో కాంగ్రెస్ నేతృత్వంలోని యూపీఏ 2 ప్రభుత్వం మరోసారి సవరణలు చేసింది. ఈ వక్ఫ్ చట్టంలో పేర్కొన్న నిబంధనల ప్రకారం.. వక్ఫ్ బోర్డులకు విశేష అధికారాలను కల్పించారు. ఈ బోర్డు నిర్ణయాలను ఏ కోర్టుల్లోనూ సవాల్ చేయలేని విధంగా.. ఎవరి ఆస్తులనైనా స్వాధీనం చేసుకునే విధంగా ప్రత్యేక అధికారాలు కల్పించారు. ప్రస్తుతం దేశంలో 30 వరకు వక్ఫ్ బోర్డులు ఉన్నాయి. అయితే తమిళనాడులోని వక్ఫ్ బోర్డు తాజాగా ఒక గ్రామం మొత్తం తమదేనంటూ ప్రకటించటంతో ఇది తీవ్ర వివాదానికి దారి తీసింది.@tgpscnotes
వక్ఫ్ సవరణ చట్టంలో ఏముంది?
ఇండియన్ ఆర్మీ, ఇండియన్ రైల్వేల తర్వాత మన దేశంలో అతి ఎక్కువగా భూములు వక్ఫ్ బోర్డుకు ఉన్నాయని కేంద్రం చెప్పింది. ఈ నేపథ్యంలోనే వక్ఫ్ బోర్డుకు విస్తృత అధికారాలను గత ప్రభుత్వాలు కట్టబెట్టాయని.. ఈ వక్ఫ్ బోర్డు ఆస్తులు 2009 తర్వాత రెట్టింపు అయిని ముసాయిదా బిల్లులో కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం పేర్కొంది. దేశంలో ఇతర మతాలకు చెందిన మఠాలకు, అఖారా, ట్రస్ట్లు, సొసైటీలకు లేని అపరిమిత అధికారాలను.. స్వతంత్ర హోదాను వక్ఫ్ బోర్డులకు కట్టబెట్టారని కేంద్రం ప్రతిపాదిత బిల్లులో వివరించింది. @tgpscnotes
వక్ఫ్ చట్టానికి సవరణలు ఎందుకు?
ఈ వక్ఫ్ బోర్డు సవరణ బిల్లును పార్లమెంటు ఆమోదింపజేసి అమల్లోకి తీసుకురావాలని కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం భావిస్తోంది. తాజా సవరణల ద్వారా వక్ఫ్ ఆస్తులపై కేంద్ర, రాష్ట్ర బోర్డులకు ఉన్న అధికారాలను కట్టడి చేయడం వల్ల వక్ఫ్ బోర్డుల నిర్వహణలో మరింత పారదర్శకత వస్తుందని నరేంద్ర మోదీ సర్కార్ భావిస్తోంది. సెంట్రల్, స్టేట్ వక్ఫ్ బోర్డుల్లో తప్పనిసరిగా మహిళలకు ప్రాతినిథ్యం కల్పించాలని కూడా ఈ బిల్లులో కేంద్రం పేర్కొంది. వక్ఫ్ ఆస్తుల నిర్వహణపై పర్యవేక్షణ బాధ్యతను జిల్లా కలెక్టర్లకు అప్పగించాలని ఈ బిల్లులో ప్రతిపాదించింది. వక్ఫ్ బోర్డులు ఏదైనా భూమి లేదా ఆస్తిని తమదిగా ప్రకటించటం ద్వారా పలు వివాదాలు, అధికార దుర్వినియోగానికి కారణం అవుతున్నాయని కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం తెలిపింది. బిల్లు చట్టరూపం దాల్చితే.. వక్ఫ్ బోర్డులు ముందు లాగా ఏ ఆస్తిని స్వచ్ఛందంగా తమ ఆస్తిగా ప్రకటించుకోలేవు.@tgpscnotes
