An 8-year-old boy who presented with intense itchy rash involving face, chest, abdomen and extremities progressively over 4 days with fever and malaise. The striking feature is the different shapes of the rash (macules - papule - pustule - crusted vesicles).

The following Questions refer to the following patient case: "A 76-year-old woman has pain on the right side of the trunk, nausea, vomiting, and generalised weakness. Examination shows a vesicular rash involving the T-10 to T-12 dermatomes. The diagnosis was confirmed and the treatment with acyclovir is prescribed in a dose of 800mg/day for 10 days."

A three-year-old boy with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who had developed fever and rash in the past few days, was seen by a physician and decided that, in the setting of the story, the rash is more likely to be primary varicella zoster infection.
