We saw some groups approach the 20K limit and increased it again. Telegram groups can now have up to 30,000 members.
Meet Telegram 4.5! You can now group photos and videos into albums when sending — and control the order in which your media will be sent.

Store any important messages or media by sending or forwarding them to the Saved Messages chat. Each saved message has a “go to” button that takes you to the right place in the original chat.

We've also improved username search to make it easier to find popular bots and channels, added support for pinned messages in channels, and redesigned the Settings screens on iOS. iOS users also get full support for iPhone X.

Telegram v.4.6 is here! You can now set up your auto-download preferences with granular precision (find the new options in Settings > Data & Storage). For example, always download pictures from your mother on any connection, but only auto-download media from groups when you're on WiFi.

iOS users will enjoy the new option to swipe left on any message to quickly reply to it.

For everyone else, we've also added support for albums to Secret chats, full support for MTProto 2.0, and the option to only use p2p in calls with contacts (see Settings > Privacy & Security).

Link previews for Instagram posts and tweets with multiple photos will now show all the media as an album, like this:
Bonus track. An embeddable HTML-widget is now available for all messages in public groups and channels. You can see it when you open links to such messages in your browser – try this with t.me/telegram/81.

Below the widget is a button that reveals the code to embed it on any website. Journalists quoting Telegram channel posts in their articles are going to love this.

Attention: Telegram publishes its official announcements only at telegram.org ✈️

If you see any other website that claims to publish news or announcements on behalf of our team, it is most likely a scam.
We have increased the member limit for supergroups to 100,000.

If you're looking to get more users in your community, the best strategy is to open a channel on Telegram. Channels are the perfect tool for broadcasting your messages to the masses because they can have an unlimited number of subscribers.

With channels, you can broadcast important announcements to millions of people or post answers to the most popular questions from members of your supergroups.

Telegram 4.8 for iOS and 4.8.5 for Android are here.

Discovering new stickers has just become easier – when you type an emoji, the app will suggest stickers from your added sets first and then throw in some new ones from other popular sets.

A search field is now available in the sticker panel, so you can quickly locate your sets or find new ones. The new version also allows taking multiple photos or videos before sending them all together.

Please meet Telegram 4.8.3 for iOS and Telegram 4.8.10 for Android.

You can now replace media when editing messages – an easy way to quickly post the correct photo instead of whichever wrong one jumped at your thumb initially.

The new 2X playback mode makes it much easier to get through long voice and video messages. You can now choose which phone numbers and other vCard data to send when sharing contacts. It's also possible to mark chats as Read or Unread.

4.8.10 on Android also includes previewing chats (long tap on profile pictures in the chats list), creating custom text links from the formatting menu, and canceling messages before they are sent.

Telegram 4.9 for iOS and Android is out. We're introducing Telegram Passport, a unified authorization method for services that require real-world ID.

Upload your documents, then easily share them with other services and apps. Telegram Passport data is stored using end-to-end encryption so that Telegram has no access to your data.

A major update: Telegram for Android 5.0, Telegram for iOS 5.1, and Telegram Desktop 1.5 have arrived.

You can now use the Translation Platform to create your own custom languages, spread them via links and apply changes in real time. Each language also gets a public discussion group.

Instant View 2.0 lets you view web pages instantly with improved support for more types of content: right-to-left languages, blocks of related articles, image links, tables, nested lists, horizontal scrolling, collapsible text blocks and much more.

Telegram for Android received a major redesign in version 5.0. Profile pages offer quick access to shared media. Shared content sections were improved with high quality previews, increased loading speed, and more info under Links and Files. The Settings and Notification and Sounds settings screens were updated for a more streamlined experience.

Telegram Desktop reached version 1.5. In addition to custom languages, it now offers interface scaling for large screens, new badge counter settings, support for new emoji and long media captions (up to 1000 characters). Like other Telegram apps, the desktop client now supports 2X mode for voice and video messages.

Telegram for macOS recently received support for video streaming, swipe navigation (including swipe to reply), and improved search for messages.
