The new Telegram update – our 12th this year – has arrived, just in time to say goodbye to 2019.

In this new version (and new decade) say hello to verifiable builds, theme editor 2.0, send when online and plenty more.

The code of Telegram apps has always been open source, but starting today, you can verify the apps you download use the exact same code as we post on GitHub.

New year, new you, new look – you can now add custom gradients to your backgrounds and messages, explore more predefined color schemes and add detail with some of the new background patterns.

Scheduled Messages have a new option – Send When Online. Save yourself the guesswork of when your friend will wake up, and instead have your message arrive the next time they open the app.

When sharing a location, you can now easily select venues on your map instead of scrolling through a list. That's not even mentioning the new night mode maps to help you navigate in the dark.

Android and iOS got plenty more in their stockings and under the tree. Read the full blog to see all the changes, including a Quick Day/Night Toggle, Share Sheet Settings and Improved Search along with tons of new animations and redesigned interfaces.

Happy update to all, and to all a Happy New 2020: https://telegram.org/blog/verifiable-apps-and-more

Today’s update adds filters to global search, a new setting to make group admins anonymous, and channel comments to start a conversation in your community.

New filters for media type, date and source are available in Global Search.

Admins can now become invisible in the list of members. Messages from these anonymous admins show no trace of their personal account and instead are signed with the name of the group.

Channels with a discussion group now have a comments button under their posts. You can try it here: @durov.

Read our latest blog post for more info on all these features and more, including a host of new animations and tweaks for Android.

Today's update brings you multiple pinned messages, proximity alerts for Live Locations, sending music as Playlists, and more.

All chats, including one-on-one chats now support multiple pinned messages. Tap on the top bar to jump through them in chat, or use the new icon to open all the pinned messages on a separate page.

When sharing Live Location, you can now set distance alerts that will send you a notification when someone is close, and icons on the map show which direction users are facing.

Sending multiple music files at the same time will create a playlist. Pressing play will automatically add the rest of the tracks to your queue. For other file types, multiple photos or documents will be sent as an album.

It wouldn’t be an update without extra animated emoji, so check out what happens when you send a single ⚰️ 🎃 🧛‍♀️ 🧟‍♂️ 🦇 🕷 🕸 🌜 🌛 or 🗿 in chat (and tap on the animated ⚰️ and 🎃 emojis in chat for an extra surprise).
If you’re feeling lucky, see if you can hit the jackpot using 🎰.

Move your message history from other apps to Telegram

Millions of people are switching every day and now their old chats from WhatsApp, Line and KakaoTalk can come with them – along with all their friends and family. 😉

This update also gives you more control of your data: secret chats, groups you created and call history can be deleted for all sides at any time.

Voice Chats now appear at the top of your Call History page, and both members and admins can individually adjust other users’ microphone levels.

After one of your contacts joins Telegram, you can open the chat and send a friendly greeting sticker with one tap. 👋
