Telegram 4.9 for iOS and Android is out. We're introducing Telegram Passport, a unified authorization method for services that require real-world ID.

Upload your documents, then easily share them with other services and apps. Telegram Passport data is stored using end-to-end encryption so that Telegram has no access to your data.

Telegram for iOS and Android 4.9.1 are out today, adding a new Exceptions section in Notification settings that lists all your chats with custom notifications.

Telegram Passport now supports more types of data, including translated versions of documents. We've also improved the password hashing algorithm to better protect Telegram Passport data.

And with the new Telegram Desktop 1.3.13 you can easily save some (or all) of your chats on your disk.

A major update: Telegram for Android 5.0, Telegram for iOS 5.1, and Telegram Desktop 1.5 have arrived.

You can now use the Translation Platform to create your own custom languages, spread them via links and apply changes in real time. Each language also gets a public discussion group.

Instant View 2.0 lets you view web pages instantly with improved support for more types of content: right-to-left languages, blocks of related articles, image links, tables, nested lists, horizontal scrolling, collapsible text blocks and much more.

Telegram for Android received a major redesign in version 5.0. Profile pages offer quick access to shared media. Shared content sections were improved with high quality previews, increased loading speed, and more info under Links and Files. The Settings and Notification and Sounds settings screens were updated for a more streamlined experience.

Telegram Desktop reached version 1.5. In addition to custom languages, it now offers interface scaling for large screens, new badge counter settings, support for new emoji and long media captions (up to 1000 characters). Like other Telegram apps, the desktop client now supports 2X mode for voice and video messages.

Telegram for macOS recently received support for video streaming, swipe navigation (including swipe to reply), and improved search for messages.

Telegram for macOS caught up with rest of the crowd, adding support for custom languages. The app also boasts improved performance when playing GIFs.

2018 was a great year for Telegram, but 2019 is going to be by far the most important one in our company's history.

In 2018, more and more people discovered Telegram and switched to it from services run by ad-selling IT monopolies.

As a result, Telegram became one of the few messaging apps that are enjoying significant growth globally.

Building on the success of the last year, this year we are going to implement many long-awaited product changes you have been asking for.

2019 will be the time when feature-related wishes of our users come true.
Telegram for iOS and Android have just reached v5.2.

Group admins can set default permissions to restrict all members from posting specific kinds of content. Telegram groups can now have up to 200,000 members.

When you delete a chat or clear chat history, you'll get a detailed confirmation dialog and an option to restore the chat within the next 5 seconds.

We've also added new streamlined group settings, new contact sorting options, better thumbnails, improved animations, stylish new search bars on iOS, an improved dark mode on Android – and more.

Today's update to Telegram apps introduces a new kind of private communication. You can now "unsend" any message you sent or received in any private chat, anytime. You can also control when your messages link back to your account if forwarded. For good measure, we've also added an option to hide your profile picture from non-contacts.

Android users can now use emoji search to quickly find the yellow beasts they were looking for — and will get emoji suggestions for the first word they type in a message.

Both platforms also support improved sticker search — you can now find individual stickers based on the keywords for the relevant emoji.

All the important parts of our iOS app can now be accessed with VoiceOver and the Android app fully supports TalkBack.

Today's update brings archived chats and a host of new and redesigned features — just in time for spring cleaning.

Tidy things up with archived chats by separating work from play, and important from inactive. Copy links to messages in private groups and channels to point back to specific posts. Redirect forwards before sending to keep messages for their intended audiences only. See who else is up past their bedtime with online badges.

Android users can now select multiple chats for bulk actions, quickly pinning, muting, archiving or deleting in one sweep. The app’s icon and menus have a new look and new functions — introducing an expanded chat list, quick forwarding button, and a more robust sharing menu supporting emoji.

iOS now accommodates 6-digit passcodes and a new look for large emoji, as well as the option to clear recently used stickers.

We've also added a new privacy setting for Who Can See My Phone Number.

Channel admins can now link a discussion group to their channel. And developers can make bots that can seamlessly authorize you on web services.

Any public channel can now be viewed from the web, even without a Telegram account.

Today's update brings features to add a little peace, quiet and customization to your chats.

Hold down the Send button to deliver messages with a silenced notification. Your recipient will still see the alert, but won't be woken up or interrupted.

Display your claim to fame with custom admin titles and make group traffic more manageable with Slow Mode. Admins choose how often each member must wait before sending their next message.

Send a single ❤️, 👍, 😒, 😳 or 🥳 and watch as new animated emoji come to life. Toggle looped playback for animated stickers to decrease the RPM of your favorite reactions.

Add timestamps like 0:45 to video captions and replies to automatically create links that play the video from that specific moment.

Android has a fully-redesigned attachment menu, boasting bigger thumbnails and easy gallery access.

iOS users can now set accent colors for night themes, or choose a color-rich Tinted Night theme.

Telegram is six years old! 🥳

To celebrate, we locked six people in a room and gave them six hours to write this encyclopedia of Telegram (it took 24).
The latest update brings scheduled messages, better themes and more privacy for those who need it most.

Holding down the send button now gives the option to schedule a message. Choose the date and time, and let Telegram take care of the delivery. Set a reminder for yourself by scheduling something in your Saved Messages.

Cloud Themes allow you to create a unique combination of theme, wallpaper and accent color to quickly share across platforms and update for all who use it.

Keeping your phone number confidential has become more universal with the new setting Who Can Find Me By My Number. This additional layer of privacy prevents even people who add your contact information to their device from being able to match your profile to your number.

Animated emoji were expanded to include 😁, 😧, 😡, 💩, 😢 and 😮.
