Portfolio Turnover Ratio
Portfolio Turnover Ratio (PTR) reveals the hidden side of mutual fund performance —
📌 trading intensity
📌 embedded costs (brokerage + STT)
📌 tax efficiency
📌 impact on long-term compounding
Two funds can deliver the same gross return, but the one with higher PTR often delivers lower post-tax wealth.
✔ Low PTR → Buy & hold | cost-efficient | tax-friendly
✔ High PTR → Justified only if risk-adjusted alpha compensates for higher churn
PTR should never be viewed in isolation.
It must be analysed alongside Sharpe Ratio, expense ratio, taxation, and category benchmarks.
📊 Detailed A4 institutional infographic attached.

A very interesting article on SWP in today's edition of etwealth
SWP can't be just planned with debt funds as claimed by many. Inflation is there to stay for long. Equity should be a portion of your portfolio until death. The allocation % varies based on various factors.
At the same time, it can't be just equities alone.
Despite the recent turmoil in equity mkts, SWP from Midcaps have generated superior returns. Invested in 2015, SWP Started in 2018. The portfolio has seen the impacts of Demonetization, COVID, Russia-Ukraine War & the recent fall from 2024!

You’ve started your SIPs, but have you thought enough about your exit strategy?
Even if you are diligent with your SIP, withdrawing funds in haste or during a market decline can leave you short of your financial goal.
Three broad ways to improve your existing strategy to make sure your patient investment bears fruit.
1) Defer your SWP; let your SIPs / lump-sum investments grow reasonably first,
2) Choose your SWP funds wisely,
3) Keep your withdrawal rate real.
