After WhatsApp, the Indian government has now sent notices to Telegram and Signal over their username feature.

The government had earlier asked WhatsApp to delay rolling out usernames until discussions on the issue are completed. Now, Telegram and Signal have also been asked to explain how the feature will work.

The main concern is that usernames could make it harder to identify users during investigations. It's not a ban, but the government wants to review the feature before it is widely rolled out.
