Code Rushing

You have likely heard about this. Sometimes, whether due to a lack of diligence or the pressure of an approaching deadline, we rush straight into writing code just to get something functional. We jump directly to coding without fully grasping the problem at hand - this is what is known as "code rushing."

This is a common pitfall, especially for beginners. Before you start writing code, it is best to take the time to thoroughly analyze and break down the problem you are trying to solve.
๐ŸŽฏ System Design in Mobile Programming

When we say System Design in the mobile world, it means designing the structure and architecture of the entire system; from data management to security and scalability.

1๏ธโƒฃ Mobile Application Architecture

๐Ÿ“ฑ Client-Side (App Layer):

Internal Architecture:
MVP, MVVM, MVI or Clean Architecture

State Management:
(ViewModel in Android, ObservableObject in SwiftUI)

Internal Cache:
SQLite, Realm, Room, CoreData

Dependency Injection:
(Like Hilt/Dagger or Koin)

๐ŸŒ Backend Integration:

API: REST or GraphQL

Authentication: (OAuth2, JWT)

Sync & Offline-first

2๏ธโƒฃ Data Flow

๐Ÿ”„ Request/Response Cycle:
Repository โ†’ API Client โ†’ Server

๐Ÿ“ฆ Offline Handling:
First, the data is stored in the Local DB, then it is synced with the server.

โšก๏ธ Real-time Updates:
WebSocket, Firebase Realtime DB, gRPC

3๏ธโƒฃ Scalability & Performance

The app should be scalable for millions of users ๐Ÿš€

Backend โ†’ Load Balancing

Use CDN for images and files

Pagination and Lazy Loading on the app side

Push Notification with FCM/APNs

4๏ธโƒฃ Security

Encryption (SharedPreferences/Keychain) ๐Ÿ”

HTTPS + SSL Pinning

Token Refresh Handling

Avoid Reverse Engineering (ProGuard, R8, Obfuscation)

5๏ธโƒฃ Observability

Logging: (Crashlytics, Sentry)

Analytics: (Firebase, Mixpanel)

Feature Flagging
for gradual rollout

๐Ÿ“Œ Simple example: Reservation app

1. App:
User searches

2. API Gateway:
Request goes to microservice Search

3. Search Service:
Fetches data from
DB (Elasticsearch / PostgreSQL)

4. Caching Layer:
And Redis or Room returns frequently used results quickly

5. App:
Shows results and stores in Local DB for offline use

โœจ Summary:
System design means thinking about the entire app lifecycle; from the mobile-side code structure to server-side communication, security, performance, and user experience.

OpenAIโ€™s GPT-6 Astra just improved another AI by editing its brain. Literally.

MIT researchers gave Astra access to the weights of Alibabaโ€™s Qwen model and asked it to fix a problem: the model kept getting stuck in repetitive reasoning loops instead of finishing its answers.

Rather than retraining Qwen, Astra figured out which weights were causing the issue and changed them directly.

The results are pretty wild:

โ€ข Only 0.016% of the modelโ€™s weights were modified
โ€ข Its MATH-500 score jumped from 7.9% to 48.1%
โ€ข Instruction-following improved from 21% to 62.3%
โ€ข The share of math responses hitting the output limit dropped from 93% to 33%

The researchers call this weight-space programming. Essentially, one AI edits the internal parameters of another AI to change how it behaves.

It didnโ€™t work nearly as well on Googleโ€™s Gemma 3, so this is far from a universal fix.

Still, think about what happened here. An AI identified a problem inside another neural network and fixed it by changing a tiny fraction of its numbers. No additional training required.

If this approach becomes reliable, fixing AI models might eventually look more like debugging software than training a new model from scratch.

And thatโ€™s a pretty strange thought.

๐Ÿ’ป Coding with AI? A Claude Code engineer's rules for keeping your own skills

Addy Osmani, who works on Claude Code at Anthropic, calls the trap "cognitive surrender": you stop checking, and the agent's answer simply becomes yours. The code looks clean, the tests pass, and later nobody on the team knows why the system works the way it does.

It isn't only coders. In a Wharton study he cites, people with an AI on hand accepted its wrong answers 73% of the time, and felt more confident doing it.

His rules:
1. Decide what success looks like before you hand over the task.
2. Form your own rough answer first, then compare.
3. Read the diff as if a junior wrote it.
4. Ask the model to argue against its own answer.
5. Check the commands the agent ran and what each test really checks.
6. Write code without the agent once a week.

๐Ÿค– The newest AIs can now write another AI by hand. Older ones score close to zero

On Monday, MIT researchers showed AI models editing another model's weights directly, with no training. Alex Krentsel, a Berkeley PhD researcher, reran one of their tests on older and newer models.

Each model had to write all the numbers inside a small network that plays the Atari game Breakout, in a single reply, with no training and no tools. The yardstick is a network trained by trial and error for 500 million steps.

GPT-6 Astra's network scored 22 times what that yardstick got. Claude Opus 5.5 hit 20x, GPT-6.1 Sol 18x. GPT-5 to GPT-5.5 and Opus 4.5 to 4.8 didn't even reach the yardstick.

Krentsel calls it "a new, step-change emerging capability that's appeared in just the latest set of models."

His own caveat: the network is tiny, 20,486 parameters, while frontier models have around a trillion. On top open-weight models it hasn't worked so far.
