Ray Kurzweil, 78, built an AI copy of himself that he hopes will outlive him

The futurist behind "The Singularity Is Near" spent the past year on Rai, an AI replica of himself that can speak, reason and learn from conversations.

Talking to it is much like a Zoom call. A 3D Kurzweil appears against a cosmos backdrop in your browser or phone and answers your voice.

He doesn't want to die, and at 78 he thinks about it more. He calls that a "major motivating force of human beings."

Rai was first shown in July at the UN's AI for Good summit in Geneva, built together with a company called Praxis AI.

🇪🇺EU governments approved a GDPR change to let companies train AI on Europeans’ personal data without consent.

It makes AI training a possible “legitimate interest”, judged case by case. Parliament must still agree. Max Schrems calls it a “digital expropriation” of Europeans.

Are crypto transactions anonymous?

Crypto transactions on blockchains are “pseudonymous,” meaning they can be traced to wallet addresses (via public keys) but have no direct connection with people’s identities.

Every transaction is open to the public, and anyone with an internet connection can view them. The date, the amount sent and received, the wallet addresses — all of this data is impossible to conceal.

However, if you use a non-custodial wallet, it will be impossible to identify you as the wallet’s owner (unless you deanonymize yourself).

For example, if you send crypto from a centralized exchange to your non-custodial wallet, the exchange now knows who the non-custodial wallet belongs to since you must pass Know Your Customer requirements by showing your ID.

Therefore, if you practice the basics, you can be completely anonymous on the blockchain, and no one will ever know your personal information.

“If you spend your time chasing butterflies, they'll fly away. But if you spend time making a beautiful garden, the butterflies will come.
Don't chase, attract.”
📊 72% of the world's new AI computing power since 2022 went to the US. China got about 10%

The gap keeps growing. America took about 60% of each year's new AI compute from 2022 to 2024, then 72% in 2025 and 78% in the first half of 2026.

The numbers come from Epoch AI, a research group that traced AI chips through customs records from over a dozen countries, counting each chip where it finally lands. China's share includes its home-made Huawei and Cambricon chips.

By Epoch's estimate, the US has imported AI chips worth about $288 billion since 2022. China: $50.5 billion.

If You Are a Software Developer, Keep This in Mind

1. Keep It Simple
Complexity is your enemy. Write code that’s easy to understand and maintain.

2.Focus on User Needs
Always think about the end-user. Build software that solves real problems.

3. Test Early, Test Often
Testing is not an option. Catch bugs early by writing tests and using automation tools.

4. Write Clear Code
Make sure your code is easy to read and understand for others (and your future self).

5. Document Your Code
Well-documented code saves time and helps others understand your work.

6. Modularize Your Code
Break your code into smaller, reusable parts. It’s easier to manage and update.

7. Keep Learning
Technology changes fast. Stay curious and keep up with new tools and best practices.

👍 Human Operator Moves the Hand

MIT's wearable Human Operator looks like dragon scales along the forearm. AI vision tracks the task and sends precisely timed electrical signals to the hand muscles, making the fingers move without the user deciding to move them.

For someone 1.5 years after a stroke, whose recovery has stalled, repetition is the point. The device could provide more training hours in a week than a clinic can provide in a month.

It does not download a skill. It guides movement rather than transferring ability, and it is still unknown whether this creates lasting motor memory.

9 Baby Steps to Learn Web Development 👇👇

1. Understand the Basics: Begin with learning the fundamental technologies that power the web: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. HTML structures the content, CSS styles it, and JavaScript adds interactivity. Focus on building simple web pages to get comfortable with these technologies.

2. Build Simple Websites: Start creating basic websites. Begin with static websites where you practice structuring content with HTML and styling it with CSS. Try building a personal portfolio or a simple landing page to apply what you’ve learned.

3. Learn Version Control with Git: Git is essential for tracking changes and collaborating on projects. Learn the basics of Git and GitHub, such as creating repositories, committing changes, and pushing code. Start by managing your web projects with Git.

4. Dive into Responsive Design: Learn how to make your websites responsive, so they look good on different devices. Study CSS techniques like Flexbox and Grid, and practice using media queries to adapt your site’s layout for various screen sizes.

5. Explore JavaScript Further: Deepen your understanding of JavaScript by learning about DOM manipulation, event handling, and AJAX. Practice by adding dynamic elements to your websites, such as interactive forms, image sliders, or real-time content updates.

6. Start with Front-End Frameworks: Familiarize yourself with popular front-end frameworks like Bootstrap for faster styling and layout or React.js for building dynamic user interfaces. Use these tools to create more complex web applications.

7. Work on Full-Stack Projects: Once you’re comfortable with front-end development, start learning about back-end technologies like Node.js, Express.js, and databases (SQL or NoSQL). Build full-stack applications that include both front-end and back-end components, such as a blog platform or a basic e-commerce site.

8. Join Web Development Communities: Engage with communities on platforms like StackOverflow, Reddit’s webdev subreddit, and GitHub. Contributing to open-source projects or seeking feedback on your work will accelerate your learning.

9. Practice and Keep Learning: Web development is vast and continuously evolving. Keep building projects, learning new frameworks, and staying updated with industry trends. Consistent practice and staying curious are key to becoming a proficient web developer.
