Developers are leaving crypto for AI

Developer activity in blockchain projects has sharply declined since early 2025:
— commits dropped by ~75%, from 850,000 to 210,000;
— the number of active developers fell by 56%, to around 4,600.

The decline is seen across most networks:
Ethereum −34%, Solana −40%, Base −52%, Aptos −60%, BNB Chain −85%.

The main reason is the AI boom.
GitHub now hosts 4.3 million AI repositories, while generative AI projects attract over 1 million developers per month.

Major funds restrict withdrawals

BlackRock has blocked capital withdrawals from a $26 billion fund for the first time.

Meanwhile, Blackstone has received record redemption requests totaling $82 billion.
