Surat Cyber Crime Police have arrested a 29 year old software engineer in connection with an alleged multi state crypto investment fraud of 24.72 crores.

Here's what happened.

A victim reportedly lost ₹72.73 lakh after being lured through Telegram to invest on a fake crypto trading platform.. According to investigators, the accused allegedly provided his bank account, debit card, and online banking credentials to fraud operators in exchange for a 2% commission.

Authorities traced over ₹1.60 crore through his account, while linking it to 8 cyber fraud cases involving a combined amount of ₹24.72 crore.

This is why you should stay cautious on Telegram, WhatsApp, and other social media platforms. Don't trust unknown people and don't send your money or crypto to anyone..

The ED has seized over ₹3.35 crore worth of crypto while investigating a large online investment and work from home scam..

According to investigators:

-Searches were carried out at 19 locations across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Srinagar.

-Fraudsters allegedly cheated victims out of nearly ₹15 crore through fake investment platforms and work from home schemes.

-The money was reportedly routed through mule bank accounts and shell companies before being converted into crypto. The crypto was then later moved across multiple wallets in an attempt to hide the money trail.

-ED also seized ₹14.5 lakh in cash and froze bank accounts holding more than ₹40 lakh.
