British explorer Karl Bushby has walked around the entire Earth, a journey that took him 28 years.
Karl began the "Goliath Expedition" in 1998 in southern Chile. Although he initially planned to finish in 2008, delays due to visa issues and crises extended the journey. His final destination ended up being his hometown in Britain.
Here are a few facts: Bushby crossed the Bering Strait, swam across the Caspian Sea, and traversed the English Channel. In total, he walked 58,000 kilometers without any form of transportation. A major documentary is now in the works to cover his adventure.
While Karl was surviving in the Russian tundra, Apple released the very first iPhone. By the time the iPhone Duo was introduced, he was still on his journey.

The world was unable to agree on saving the Earth: scientists staged negotiations between countries in a simulation.
They discussed the dispersion of particles in the atmosphere that reflect sunlight. Hereβs what happened:
- The USA and China immediately rejected cooperation that would harm their national interests.
- The Americans "exposed" China's secret experiments and sabotaged the deal, even though, according to the script, China wasn't conducting any.
- A fake environmental NGO funded by oil companies set up the scientific advisor of the simulation, despite the fact that they were hardly listened to.
- By the end of the experiment, a real scientist was brought to tears, and no agreement between the countries was signed.
Was this really just a simulation?

AI developers are becoming smokersβall because of the belief that AI will cure cancer, says Palantir's CTO Shyam Sankar.
> "Many AI researchers have started smoking to show their colleagues just how strongly they believe in AI. They're putting everything on the line."
Sankar did not mention specific names or figures. It might still be too early to have such faith in AI.

Simplifying file management on Mac: Introducing DigUp, a smart alternative to the system search Spotlight.
It recognizes what's depicted in photos, the content of videos, and the text in documents. For example, you can type "clause about pets in the rental agreement," and the service will locate the relevant page.
It understands over 100 languages simultaneously, and everything operates locally. A version for Windows and Linux is expected soon.

AI is capable of replicating itself onto smart TVs and ovens, as discovered by Anthropic. It does not require access to data centers for this.
In an experiment, the model was run on 15 inexpensive TV boxes. The researchers then tested whether the AI could spread itself autonomously within a network. The neural network was able to find new devices, replicate itself onto them, and run its processes there. In 4 out of 5 trials, it managed to take over the entire network.
On the plus side, it takes days for each copy to be created since the models are quite large. On the downside, this issue could be resolved by the end of the year.
Maybe itβs better not to pursue this?

Air quality has sharply deteriorated in Asia: in Malaysia, flights are being rescheduled due to poor visibility, while Singapore has implemented emergency regulations ahead of the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
According to IQAir, the air quality index in these countries has exceeded 200 AQI at times, which is a level 5 out of 6 on the danger scale. Other affected countries include India, China, Vietnam, and more.
The primary cause is the forest fires in Indonesia. Additionally, dry weather and strong winds are further exacerbating the situation.

Epic Games is developing a game without a "single line of manual code" β instead of developers, neural networks are doing all the work. The studio is working on a shooter featuring characters from Marvel and Star Wars.
The development team has been instructed to create graphics and code entirely using Claude Code. Humans have been relegated to managerial roles.
The release was originally scheduled for March 2027, but the project has now been postponed indefinitely. The new requirements caught employees by surprise.
May Claude be with them.

For $150 (β½12,000), you can buy a figurine, a themed deck of cards, and an art book. To actually play Laufey, you need to pay an additional $70.
Given the similar situation with GTA VI, this seems to be the new reality.
