Anthropic has called for a slowdown in AI development, as the company is concerned that models might soon begin to improve themselves without human intervention.
In their latest report, Anthropic states that their models generate over 80% of all internal code and only lag behind human developers in skills related to searching and task management.
The creators of Claude believe this is sufficient and are prepared to halt future development if other labs do the same.
They are essentially suggesting that AI should be controlled like nuclear weapons.
