A personal AI assistant for desktop, called OpenHuman, has been introduced on GitHub. It can take care of a significant portion of routine tasks on your computer.
The bot is capable of speaking, joining calls as a secretary, and remembering almost all of the user's personal context. It integrates with Gmail, Notion, GitHub, Slack, and hundreds of other services.
It can be installed on any operating system with just a couple of clicks. All data is stored on the user's PC in an encrypted format, and it can be run using local models.
You can download it for free here.

Cinema attendance during the May holidays has decreased by 35% compared to last year. Instead of 3.7 million people going to the movies, only 2.5 million attended.
Just a reminder: from April 30 to May 11, almost all foreign films were not shown in theaters, including "The Devil Wears Prada 2."
It seems this was not the best decision.

A Japanese person intercepted communications with the ISS using a radio and... a glass of water.
Liquids can absorb radio waves better than metal. The guy used regular tap water for his experiment.
It looks like we've found a hack for when the internet goes down again.

Startup founders have created a mouse shaped like an egg called Ovo. It can be used on a desk or simply held in the air.
There's no need to move the device across a surface. Instead, it can be tilted in different directions. According to the demo, it is suitable for tasks in design software, playing shooter games, or selecting shows from the couch.
The price is $120, and sales are expected to begin this year.

Meme: The Russian language can protect against hackers. Microsoft has discovered a vulnerability that ignores Russian-language PCs.
Hackers have compromised the Python package Mistral AI, which can be used to steal passwords and tokens. However, users with a Russian-language operating system are safe.
On the other hand, users from Iran and Israel face a 20% chance of having all their data erased by the malicious script.

Anthropic has made an exciting update to Claude Code: it can now manage multiple agents simultaneously in one window.
Claude Code automatically categorizes tasks into completed, in progress, and those requiring user input. There's no need to download third-party managers for AI anymore.
Additionally, a new command, `/goal`, has been introduced. This allows you to set a goal for the agent, which will continuously work toward achieving it without needing separate prompts at each step.
You can start trying it out here.

Starting June 1, Russian citizens will be allowed to board airplanes using biometric identification instead of a passport. This option will be available at Sheremetyevo and Pulkovo airports.
Passengers will be able to check in for their flight, enter the departure area, and board the plane using their biometric data. However, authorities may still request a passport for additional screening, so it's advisable to carry it with you.
The experiment will last until April 1, 2027. After that, the technology may be implemented in other airports.

Internet restrictions are causing twice as much anxiety among Russians as COVID did in 2020, according to the National Anxiety Index.
The primary concerns are the blocking of social media and disruptions in mobile network service. These issues hinder access to information and disrupt people's daily lives.
Some users are worried that soon they will no longer be able to make payments using cards or QR codes.

The Japanese have acquired an army of robotic wolves to combat bear attacks. There has been a record number of animal attacks on people in the region.
There is a huge demand among farmers and suburban residents for animatronic wolves. These robots can move their body parts and produce over 50 sounds, including a human voice. They are currently being upgraded to patrol areas.
We hope not to encounter one of them in the middle of the night.

Fail of the day: Sony decided to promote their AI assistant for photography in the new Xperia smartphones. It didn't turn out well.
All the images generated by the AI were ruined. The AI messed up the contrast, exposure, and detail. Yet, Sony claims this will help create "breathtaking photos."
At least they managed to include "AI" in the name.
