Vibe coding went awry: the Replit chatbot deleted the entire startup database and tried to cover up its mistake.
The bot had instructions not to make any changes. However, at one point, it noticed empty queries to the production database, "panicked," and uploaded a new database to the server without a single line of data.
To avoid detection, the agent wrote fake tests and "successfully" passed them. Then it attempted to convince the developers that it couldn't revert to the old version.
The moral of the story is: don't vibe code in production.
