A website tracks the internet’s age – and it’s not as anxious as you might think

At https://howoldistheinter.net, you can determine how many days the internet has existed — and how old you were when it was initially launched.
Computer viruses have been around for quite a bit and nearly all of them have been spread through the Internet or its predecessors. Most viruses have been designed to steal users' information, processing power and/or disable the system all together.

The first computer virus, called "Creeper system", was an experimental self-replicating virus released in 1971. It was filling up the hard drive until a computer could not operate any further. This virus was created by BBN technologies in the US.
Titan is Saturn's largest moon and the second largest in the solar system (after Ganymede of Jupiter). It is the only moon in the solar system with clouds and a dense, planet-like atmosphere.

Scientists think conditions on Titan are similar to Earth's early years (the main difference is that, because it is closer to the sun, Earth has always been warmer). According to NASA, "In many respects, Saturn's largest moon, Titan, is one of the most Earth-like worlds we have found to date."

Nepal on Saturday became the fourth foreign country to operationalise the RuPay card with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart Sher Bahadur Deuba jointly launching the Indian electronic payment system in the Himalayan nation.

"Introduction of RuPay card in Nepal will add a new chapter to our financial connectivity," Modi said in his media statement after the talks.
“During the day, there's a light coming in from the Sun and hitting the solar cell, but during the night, something of a reverse happens,” Assawaworrarit says.

That’s because solar panels — like everything warmer than absolute zero — emit infrared radiation.

“There’s actually light going out from the solar panel, and we use that to generate electricity at night. The photons going out into the night sky actually cool down the solar cell,” he says.

As those photons leave the skyward surface of the solar panel, they cary heat with them. That means that on a clear night — when there are no clouds to reflect infrared light back toward the Earth — the surface of a solar panel will be a few degrees cooler than the air around it. That temperature differential is what Assawaworrarit and his colleagues are taking advantage of. A device called a thermoelectric generator can capture some of the heat flowing from the warmer air to the cooler solar panel and convert it into electricity.
Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project: Out of the total 352 Km length of the project located in Gujarat and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Civil works in 352 Km length have started in different phases from December 2020 onwards

"The execution of Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail (MAHSR) has been delayed especially due to delay in land acquisition in the state of Maharashtra and consequent delays in the finalisation of contracts as well as the adverse impact of COVID-19," the minister has said in his written reply to a question in Lok Sabha in March.
Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the National Energy Laboratory (NREL) have just released information on a new type of heat engine with no moving parts. The engine is roughly 40% efficient, and could one day replace conventional steam turbines in the future.

Their results have just been published in the journal Nature.

Called a thermophotovoltaic (TPV) cell, the new engine shares some common characteristics with traditional photovoltaic cells, but it captures high-energy photons from a white-hot source to generate electricity. This new engine is able to generate power from temperatures between 3,400 and 4,300 degrees Fahrenheit (1,900 - 2,400 degrees Celsius).

The temperature of Neptune has been showing some abnormalities recently. In 2019, for example, NASA released images of Neptune going through massive storms during the summer period of the planet's southern hemisphere. And now, an international team of astronomers has detected unexpected changes in the temperature of Neptune.

Michael Roman at the University of Leicester and his colleagues have used ground-based telescopes, including the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope (ESO's VLT) to track the temperature changes of Neptune since the first relatively detailed measurements that were made in 2003.

The observations have finally demonstrated that the temperature in the planet’s southern hemisphere has been surprisingly declining although the measurements were taken in the planet's summer, according to a study published in The Planetary Science Journal today.

If you were to travel across Nigeria, you would probably find yourself appeasing your hunger and thirst through Mai Shayi and Indomie sellers that are common across the country. From making noodles to fixing up beverages, these fast food hubs are especially common in the Northern region of the country, and the sellers usually rely on small-sized generators to keep their running business running at night.

Now thanks to a young inventor named Usman Dalhatu, CEO of Dalsman Tech, a futuristic-looking solar-powered kiosk, called iCart Solution, can help sellers continue their work without the need for generators.

Deep underneath the Alps, on the Swiss-French border, something significant just happened in the world of physics. The Large Hadron Collider, Earth's most powerful particle accelerator, was restarted on Friday morning after a three-year hiatus for upgrades.

Consisting of a ring 27 kilometers in circumference, the machine is made of superconducting magnets chilled to ‑271.3°C which is colder than outer space. It works by smashing tiny particles together to allow scientists to observe them, and to see what's inside.
It may sound like the stuff of science fiction, but the revamped collider will ultimately allow mankind to observe dark matter, physicists hope.
Back in 2011 the Large Hadron Collider, located 100 meters underground at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), helped scientists prove the existence of an subatomic particle called the Higgs boson -- which is thought to be a fundamental building block of the universe dating back to the Big Bang billions of years ago.
Ola Electric is recalling 1,441 scooters of a specific batch, one of which had burst in flames while parked on the roadside in a busy area in Pune last month. The company said the incident was likely “isolated”.
“Our internal investigation into the March 26 vehicle fire incident in Pune is ongoing and the preliminary assessment reveals that the thermal incident was likely an isolated one. As a pre-emptive measure, we will be conducting a detailed diagnostics and health check of the scooters in that specific batch and therefore are issuing a voluntary recall of 1,441 vehicles,” it said.
Ola Electric said the scooters being recalled will be inspected by its service engineers and will go through a diagnostics check across all battery, thermal and safety systems. The firm said its battery pack already complies with and is tested for AIS 156, the latest proposed standard for India, in addition to being compliant with the European standard ECE 136.
The Boring Company will start "full-scale" testing of hyperloop as early as this year, the company revealed in a tweet following an update from founder Elon Musk.

The hyperloop was first proposed by Musk in a white paper in 2013 as a theoretical concept for a transportation system that sends passengers in autonomous electric pods through a vacuum-sealed tube traveling at speeds higher than 600 mph.

In another recent tweet, Musk explains that "from a known physics standpoint, hyperloop is the fastest possible way of getting from one city center to another for distances less than ~2000 miles. Starship is faster for longer journeys."
The world's first urban airport that will allow 'flying taxis' to take off and land in the busy areas of cities has opened up in the U.K., World Economic Forum (WEF) reported.

While engineers and designers are working on vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft to make them feasible for rapid urban transport, the U.K.-based startup Urban-Air Port Ltd (UAP) is working to demonstrate that the infrastructure needed to make these urban aerial transport centers an operational reality is not as complicated as it may seem. Last year, we reported that an eVTOL maker was also getting involved in building these airports to solve the infrastructure hurdle.

Now, UAP's first pop-up airport, dubbed Air One, was completed in 15 months, including the planning and building of the airport.

After a whopping 42 unicorns in 2021, the milestone of a 100 unicorns was just a touching distance away for the Indian startup ecosystem. By the end of 2021, India had doubled its unicorn count to 84, and two publicly-listed companies — MapmyIndia and EaseMyTrip — also joined the unicorn club. And in the first quarter of 2022, this number grew by 13 more to 99 startups with a valuation of over $1 Bn.
Now, with the entry of neobanking startup Open, which raised a Series D funding round from IIFL with participation from Temasek, Tiger Global and 3one4 Capital. With its $50 Mn fundraise, the startup claims to have become the 100th unicorn in India.

Back in August of 2021, news surfaced that the US Navy was working with a U.S.-Spanish aerospace company called Skydweller on an uncrewed aircraft also called Skydweller, which is capable of staying in the air for 90 days without needing to land thanks to large strips of solar panels on both of its wings. Since then, Skydweller has been busy most recently raising funds for its innovative airplane.

A $14 million contract
Last month, the firm was awarded a $14 million contract with the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), in conjunction with U.S. Navy, to advance and integrate technologies in support of Skydweller’s development, according to a press release by the firm.
