🇨🇳 In #China, a smart-parking system nearly drove a Xiaomi SU7 electric car into the water. The system failed to detect a drop in elevation and continued moving straight into a pond.

The owner is demanding compensation, insisting the feature is unsafe. Xiaomi points to the manual, which states that before activating autoparking, the driver must personally ensure the path is clear.

BREAKING: Upcoming smartphones will come with lesser RAM

According to Trend Force, due to shortage in RAM caused by AI datacenters, smartphone manufacturers are planning to lower the RAM capacity.

1. There will be fewer 16GB RAM flagships.
2. 12GB RAM will not be available on mid-range models and thus we are back to 8GB RAM.
3. Budget smartphones will go back to 4GB RAM from the current 6GB ~ 8GB

Note: Smartphones will become more expensive just after the new year ends and mostly all the companies will announce the revised pricing, so be quick if you are planning on buying one.

Apple will also eventually increase the iPhone pricing because the memory component in the total BOM for iPhones is expected to significantly increase in 1Q26. This development may lead Apple to reevaluate pricing strategies for new models and consider reducing or removing price cuts on older versions.

Disabling the Lockscreen Magazine garbage in NothingOS will cause extensive battery drain in Nothing smartphones

Carl Pei recently added bloatware to Nothing smartphones, especially the Locksreen Magazine which will show ads to the users on their Lockscreen. So, some users disabled the feature via ADB or by going in App-info.

It turns out that, if you disable the Lockscreen Magazine service, NothingOS tries to start the service every 3 seconds indefinitely, which will cause eventually extensive battery drain. However, it stops if you keep the service enabled but toggle OFF the option.

Now, if you keep it enabled, Lock Glimpse is running in the background doing whatever it fancies as it is a "private system app".
Someone on reddit noticed that wiping the app data and never even toggling Lock Glimpse on it sent around 25kb of mobile data and later the "User Data" eventually grew by 5mb and it sent ANOTHER 30kb of mobile data even when the Lockscreen glimpse is toggled OFF in the settings.

Womp Womp, OPlus smartphones have Battery Gacha System

OPPO, Realme, and OnePlus have mastered a new feature – random battery life.
After 100 to 200 cycles, the BMS starts freelancing.
One day you get 5 hours SOT.
Next day 7.
Same usage. Same phone. Zero explanation.

Your cell might be 6000mAh, but the charge counter casually reports 4800mAh like nothing happened. Rooted battery health tools? They just roll dice every reboot. Health goes up, down, sideways. You never actually hit a true 100% charge again, which is why the battery suddenly feels worse without any update causing it.

In short, Oplus battery life is "Gacha". Reviewers never catch it and Find X9 Pro still gets phone of the year.
